Hey everyone, I was wondering if there were any good hotels that might give you a view of Sky Harbor airport. Im going to Phoenix this weekend and it would be great if I could find a nice hotel with some sort of a view of the airport/runways.
Stayed there last year at the start of a tour..good hotel with a good restaurant..could see planes landing as I ate.
No view from my room..but I think I could have corrected that with short walk..

Quoting DesertJets (Reply 4): Only other place I can think of off hand is the Marriott on 44th St. But it is north of the 202, both the Doubletree and Crowne Plaza are further south and closer to Sky Harbor.
There is one south of the airport, a Radisson hotel that is not too far south of the airport.

Do you think it would work, it has 6 floors and some of the rooms face north, not sure though.
I stayed here overnight about six weeks ago; incoming traffic looked to be a fair distance away if watching airplanes is what you have in mind. Hotel was OK, but I was in a hurry to get out of Phoenix because the temperature when I drove in late afternoon was 109F. I was very glad I had an early morning departure because the next-day forecast was for 115F. GawdAlmighty I don't know how I could live in that kind of heat.
Never let the facts get in the way of a good story.
The map is deceiving - that's a long way from the airport. You can probably see the planes as in just about make out the airline, but way too far for shooting/logging.
The Crowne Plaza is the closest, but none of the rooms face the airport. There is a Best Western just south of the airport, but the freeway blocks views of the airport and likely generates unbearable noise. And don't stay in any of the cheapies on 24th Street unless you want to feature in an episode of C*O*P*S
