Hey all,

Travelling to Dubai Via Sydney and was just going to price flights.

Question is apart from the obvious what are the options other than EK?

Much appreciated.

If you want to fly non-stop SYD-DXB, I think EK are the only ones. Great airline (I'm travelling MEL-DXB non-stop next week with EK). If you want something different, you could instead go to EY direct to AUH, then car/bus to Dubai.

OK, if you're not too worried about doing it as a one stop, then there are many options, with overall flight times comparable to EK's one stop services via BKK...

EK
9:10p SYD 1 5:45a+1 DXB 1 EK 413 Non-stop 345 14:35
6:45p SYD 1 5:35a+1 DXB 1 EK 419 1-Stop 77W 16:50

some others:

8:05a SYD 1 6:35p DXB 1 SQ 220/SQ 494 Via SIN 744/773 16:30
3:40p SYD 1 2:55a+1 DXB 1 SQ 222/SQ 490 Via SIN 744/773 17:15
10:00a SYD 1 9:35p DXB 1 TG 994/TG 517 Via BKK 777/333 17:35
2:20p SYD 1 3:00a+1 DXB 1 MH 122/MH 156 Via KUL 744/332 18:40
7:35a SYD 1 8:45p DXB 1 CX 110/CX 731 Via HKG 333/330

if you have a preference for daylight flights, SQ, CX and TG offer good options, and fares would be pretty competitive.

No surprise you put SQ/Star alliance at the top of your list and dropped a CX flight or two off the list

Only operates thurs & sun, they also have other flights via BNE and MAA

CX has two flights a day via HKG (CX110/731 & CX100/745), some days 3 flights (the addition of CX138 connecting to 751 or 745), also have the option of connecting off VS201 or QF187 at HKG or QF1 connecting to CX751 at BKK.

That's that supposed to mean?
I'm by no means playing favourites.
Simply put, that's how the flights came up when I put them in for shortest flight time SYD/DXB.

CX is a great airline, but travel time is about 19 hours.

I'd also try Etihad. They offer a non-stop flight to Abu Dhabi, which is only aboout an hour and a bit drive from Dubai.
