Need some advice here guys.

Friend of mine needs to go MRY-CDG in Y, using only Star Alliance carriers (He needs to earn more miles soon to keep his status). The best options from MRY are either MRY-LAX or MRY-SFO (MRY-DEN I have found is usually more expensive than either of those two).

I am erring toward LAX and thinking of recommending either LX MRY-LAX-ZRH-CDG or UA MRY-LAX-ORD-CDG. LX seems the better of the two overall in terms of overall service and quality of product in Y. I am a little worried here though because the arrival in CDG will be pretty late.

Has anyone flown LX LAX-ZRH or taken a comparable longhaul in the LX A343? I've heard some things about the LX A343 being quite cramped in Y, especially in seats with the entertainment box under the seat. Can anyone else think of any better routes?

Thanks,
-Osprey88

I guess MRY-SFO-FRA-CDG could be an alternative.

He can also go via Toronto or Montreal to Paris on AC. AC flies from LAX or SFO. He can even go up the coast to YVR, then transcon to YYZ or YUL, thence on to CDG. Starting with the winter schedule, he can even go across the Atlantic from Montreal in a brand new 777-300ER.

Well in September AC will begin their YUL-CDG with a B773ER. You could do SFO-YUL-CDG!!

if the primary objective is to earn as much miles as possible to keep an elite status in the FFP, your friend should fly west like LAX-SIN-CDG on SQ  bigthumbsup   cloudnine

How about UA to LHR, then BMI to CDG? or UA to DEN/PHL then US to CDG.
