What should I expect? Ive only flown a bunch of 172's and a few 152's. I understand it is a "stick" airplane but what about other things like space control etc.? Thanks a lot

Mike

I've done a flight in a DA-20, and i loved it. The probably aren't much different, but compared to a C172, they are really roomy. I'm pretty well built (my friends complain when i sit next to them on buses, and this is the girls!) and i found it really roomy. I learn in a PA-38 which is really wide inside because of the "bubble" cockpit, but i found the DA-20 wider.

One thing to be careful about if you burn easily is wear sun screen. I had 20 mins in the DA-20 and i came back sunburnt!

I have a few hours on the DA40, it is a good new generation single engine... low operating cost and it is quite easy to fly !
The early TDI models had some problems with the FADEC, the engine has caused a few problems especially with the fuel injector connectors,... ; but now it seems that everything is ok !
The 180hp model has of course better performance, especially take off roll distance and climb rate. Cruise speed at 5,000ft is 130kt at 75% power (~10 US gal/hour).

I think you will be happy with this light plane  Wink

You can ask A.net member Vio, who flies the DA-40, there should also be a couple of trip reports by him in the Trip report section in the DA-40
