Okay who will be the next airline that is buying the A380 or 747-8 (both versions).
I am saying EK 20 747-8Is followed by Thai for another 10 747-8Is.
Air India will be the next new A380 customer.

It will forever be a McDonnell Douglas MD 80 , Boeing MD 80 sounds so wrong

For 747-8I or A380 ??
At has to be the 747.
Think that the next A380 customer will be a Asian carrier. But which I dont know.
They 747-8I will be ordered by ????????.
Dont think that UA will order the 747-8I. More likely the 787.

Quoting Columba (Reply 6): have a bet with a fellow a.net member he says CX and I said AI.
Interesting. Think that you will lose. CX is more likely to order the A380.

Quoting JRDC930 (Reply 8): Especially not UA as they move toward smaller aircraft.

Watch what happens with China routes and reducing frequencies to ease conjestion on the US East Coast. Airlines most affected by these two variables will order these aircraft. My bet? Who is going to China? NW. 748. The 787 will quickly prove to be too small for China routes. As far as US East coast goes, BA already bit the bullet.

My bet is on CX for perhaps 10 firm plus 10 purchase rights, followed by TG for 10 firm and 5 purchase rights, and maybe either UA or NW for 5-10 firm and 5 purchase rights. All for the 747-8I.

Guten Tag!
How about this one for out-of-the-box thinking: WN - Southwest Airlines... if I have to look at those ugly planes when I fly out of LAX, I might as well see about 10 or 15 A380's at Terminal 1. And you know, I have no doubt in my mind somehow WN can fill those planes. I have never flown them, but they always appear busy at T1 - especially during Thanksgiving Holiday!
Of course, my beloved AF will have them and that is all I really care about, selfishly.

For the A380 I'd say Vietnam Airlines,
As for the 748, ummmmmmmmmm Avianca? Iran air? Yemenia? I don't mean to be negative but there really doesn't seem to be a whole lot of interest in the latest 747 considering how many carriers could feasibly use it.

Three months ago there were rumors that NZ was looking at 747-8s but latter went away when CEO Rob Fyfe indicated that the 77W was "our preferred choice for replacing the 744s."
CI - Expect an order for the 748i by next summer.
CX - Whenever they order expect a 50/50 split A380/748i.
UA - Not until spring 2009 at the earliest, but being a 777 launch customer as well as one of Boeing's most loyal customers, odds are extremely good....
The engine is the heart of an airplane, but the pilot is its soul.

Hi all
IB will be next. (wishful thinking) but next year I'm going to OZ so I'll have to see if I can get on a Qantas or Emirates flight as IB has ZED agreements with both.
These are my principles but if you don't like them I have others
27 EBJ1248650: I see Northwest as an A380 customer in the not too distant future. United for the 748? Not sure. Definitely don't see them using the A380. In fact, No
28 TK787: I know it is kinda crazy and probably the order won't happen, but 380 number 007 will be coming to IST Oct.29th for two days and Airbus offers 3 frame
29 Columba: In the Turkish Aviation thread there was a similar statement claiming that TK is indeed interested. Lets see.
31 Columba: Because Leahy was very confident on sellig the A380 but as LH has shown and with EK and TG as likely followers 747-8I and A380 in one fleet make sens
