Hi!
I'm planning a trip to SFO. To have some fun I decided not to take the shortest way. May plan is to fly PAD-FRA-PDX-SFO on LH and UA. On my way back I want to fly SFO-DEN-FRA-PAD on UA and LH. Only the us-domestic flights are on UA. This is a good choice of various aircrafts and would be my first time on an us-domestic flight and on an us-carrier.
My time at PDX will be 1:11 hours. My time at DEN will be 1:12 hours. Is it enough to change aircraft and to deal the immigration dept. at PDX?

stefan,
do not know about PDX, but 1:12 in den should be ok. you will arrive in den on the B concourse and depart from the A concourse. you should be checked in and your bags tagged thru to PAD when you check in at sfo. if not make sure the bags are at least tagged to PAD, do not go to the main terminal to the LH desk...go directly to the gate, LH will be able to check you in there. pm me if you want and i will see what i can do on seating for you ok
I doubt it and would not risk it, as you will have to clear immigration & customs at PDX will all your luggage.
Some will say that it will be UA's problem to rebook you, but personally I do not like such situations and will try to avoid them (in this case by booking a later flight PDX-SFO), as presumably other details depend on your flight to SFO (rental car ? anyone to pick you up ?)
No problem as you will stay airside on your flight to Europe.
When connecting inbound at DEN, 1:12 hours would be too short (reasons see above and in thread Denver TSA/ United Airlines Nightmare (by Woodsboy Oct 11 2007 in Civil Aviation) ). Minimum would have been about 2 hours.
Enjoy the Bay Area !

Hi Holger!
After arrival in SFO I will only go to my hotel by bus or cab. Don't know yet. I'm not reliant on the early flight, but it's the only connection offered on LHs website.
In DEN I will stay airside and head directly to my departure gate.

Hi Stefan,
When using "Gabelflug" on LH's website you get 2 options via PDX as follows for a sector FRA-SFO (this is for a random date of 04-APR-2008):
09:55 Frankfurt 11:25 Portland LH468 13h58 Economy
13:10 Portland 14:53 San Francisco LH9085 Economy
09:55 Frankfurt 11:25 Portland LH468 16h17 Economy
15:30 Portland 17:12 San Francisco LH9215 Economy
Enter sectors as follows, but not PDX-SFO as a seperate sector.
1. PAD FRA
2. FRA SFO
3. SFO FRA
4. FRA PAD

KPDX, that was a great video, with the Star Alliance livery making it even better. Nothing like the trademark buzzing sound of the CFM56's and the sluggish climbout of the A340. The impressive wingflex was also a nice effect!

Quote: KPDX: Ive seen the Star Alliance 340 many times now at PDX for some reason.
Maybe with some luck I'll fly on the Star Alliance A340 then. I'm considering if I upgrade the FRA-PDX leg or the DEN-FRA leg from economy to business class. The FRA-PDX leg (A343) is one hour longer, but the DEN-FRA leg (A346) is a night flight, so more comfy to sleep.
