I was wondering if anyone can give me any information on a hotel in London (The Grand at Trafalgar Square) and about the area. I am flying to London at the end of the month. It seems that all the reviews that I have read are positive and I was wondering if anyone on this site has stayed there.

No.

Reviews indeed look quite okay.

Quoting WarRI1 (Thread starter):
the area.

Like many reviews state, this is a prime location and many sights are within easy walking distance.
Trafalgar Square itself might be the source of some traffic noise, but apparently this is not valid for the hotel as I have not seen anyone complaining about this.
Budget travellers might find the costs a bit high, but if it is within your price range, it looks like a comfortable hotel to keep in mind.

Access to LHR:
1. Using Heathrow Express (HEX) to Paddington Station, then take a taxi to the hotel (alternatively use Bakerloo Line to Charing Cross (aka. Charing X), but with lots of luggage this is a rather uncomfortable option).

2. Use the tube from Heathrow to Piccadilly Circus and change there to Bakerloo Line for Charing X.

3. Taxi all the way from LHR to the hotel (quite expensive, but if there is more than one person travelling, sum of costs compared to HEX+Taxi might warrant using the taxi all the way. This statement is also taking the information in your profile into account.

Enjoy your stay in London,
-HT
