Hello all,

I am in the midst of booking a very exciting trip to Botswana. I have a few questions for those in the know.

First of all, can you recommend a convenient hotel around JNB airport. I will be spending one night there on my way to GBE.

Secondly, I am flying on one of SAA's Dash 8 to GBE. So far, I am seating in row 2. Is that good for window viewing or is the wing / engine in the way?

Thank y'all so much...

The Dash 8 are operated by SAX (SA Express) and not SAA. I haven't seen a seatmap on www.flysax.com but since its a Dash the view can't be that bad, to be sure book a seat in front or in the back. Assume their seat map isn't much different to the one of US Airways Dash 8 planes

There are several airports around JNB Airport. One (the most expensive) within walking distance (InterContinental Southern Sun), the others (Southern Sun or Garden Court) do have shuttle bus.

Check www.southernsun.com for the hotels around the airport.

Row 2 is ahead of the engines.

Go to http://www.citylodge.co.za for hotels, there is a City Lodge, a Town Lodge and 2 Road Lodges near the airport, all with shuttle service. Look for OR Tambo International or Isando Road Lodge.

After Monday and Tuesday even the calendar says WTF...

Thanks guyz.
I am booked at the Intercontinental during my layover and in seat 2A on the Dash...

Will do my best to do a trip report which will certainly include my participation in a Global Village Build with Habitat for Humanity.
