Sometimes, when I give as a reason why I do something in a particular way that this way is better for the environment, I get the comment that with having a job that has to do with aviation I could never fix the environmental damage I'm "causing" at work every day. Resulting that I'm not in a position that allows me to comment on peoples environmental-damaging behavior. All because of my job. I of course try to explain that by offering shortcuts every day to aircraft causes, seen over a year, at least some fuel and exhaust saving. And flying is a lot better than everyone taking the car! And I reckon that if you start looking at the issue in such a little picky way that one could hardly find any jobs that aren't effecting - directly or indirectly - the environment.
Do you as well encounter such comments or discussions?

When I lived in Florida, the EPA was visting airports and fining everyone that poured a fuel sample on the ground a $500 fine and fining their company $500. We didn't get caught but I knew people that did.

Environmental consciousness is a gigantic conceit. Environmentalists are not trying to save the earth - they are trying to keep it from changing. A moment's reflection should convince you that that is neither sound nor wise.
Paraphrasing George Carlin; maybe the earth only created the human race because it needed plastic in landfills to advance to its next state.

All environmental efforts are aimed at prolonging the mammal-friendly ecosystem. Perhaps the carbon-oxygen life model is doomed anyway and cleaning up oil spills is only prolonging the agony.

Happiness is not seeing another trite Ste. Maarten photo all week long.
