I get quite scare when I fly - i know it is irrational but it seems to have got worse the last few times I have flown.
I am booked to fly VS to SFO and then Return from LAX (return in PE) (Both 747)
Internal flight is on AA in MD80
To try and get used to flying alone as I have never done it before I have bookd a day trip with FR to Dublin from BHX.
(side question - can I get both boarding passes if I check in on line the night before?)
Can anyone tell me what to expect from these flights and also any tips on dealing with nerves before or during the flight?

Ask the flight attendants if you could see the pilots before the door is closed. Talking with the pilots and seeing where "all the action is" helps calm nerves (I have found). Don't be afraid to ask questions like weather enroute, weather at arrival city, etc..
Also ask the crew if you have any questions as to noises that are unfamiliar with you, what to expect flight wise and service, where the loos are, etc.. Let them know you are a nervous traveller, too.
I would give you a tour of the cabin (all classes) and try to give you a sense of ease. See if the crews will do the same.
Good luck with your trip and let us know how it went.
