I am looking at flights for the summer, for LHR - YYZ rtn, and I am looking at flying AC or BA, and I am not sure which airline I should fly, I know with AC you have the new 77W and all their planes at their new XM class.
I am wondering, which airline people would prefer to fly.

AC has the frequency advantage with 4 or 5 daily LHR-YYZ flights. They also have the only daytime flight from Canada to Europe with one of their YYZ-LHR flights departing at 0900 and arriving LHR at 2120. Good way to reduce jetlag on the eastbound trip.

You guys seem to forget that AC has greatly improved in the last few years. I would personally choose AC over BA. While not every flight on AC will get you a 77W I actually prefer the 343 in the fact that it is a more comfortable aircraft and more quiet. I prefer the 2-4-2 to the 3-3-3. If you are traveling J, I would give AC a try if you have not traveled on their new product, it is quite nice.

Checkin - Both BA and AC allow you to checkin online, plus they have Self-Service machines, but I'm not sure whether BA have any SS machines at YYZ. Both BAs and ACs checkin staff are good, I'd have to say ACs at LHR is quicker, simply because T4 for BA has more flights, making the wait time longer.
Terminals - T4 at LHR may not be the nicest looking building, but it's pretty straightforward, going from checkin through security, then you're airside. And there's not that far to walk, but you'll probably have to board a bus for a BA flight, especially the afternoon flights. The BA lounges win hands down, if you're in World Traveller then there's plenty of shops and walking to keep you busy. In T3 for AC, it's a bit more rabbit-warren like, upstairs, through security, then a crowded waiting area (if you're in economy, if you're in Exec, the London Lounge is smaller than others but comfortable, complete with a library and comfy seats to watch the planes!), then a long walk most of the way down the pier to the gate. But T3 is being refurbished and the new bits are light and airy, no sign of that in T4. YYZ's terminal 1, for AC, is excellent, spacious, airy, easy to navigate and good waiting areas and lounges. T3 for BA is older, but still nice, the BA checkin area being next to large windows where you can watch the planes as you checkin, nice touch. After security, the walk to the gate can be quite a way, even more from the Exec lounge. Plus, BA and AC have LHR arrival lounges, of which the BA is a cut above.
On board - The BA product is, in all classes, better than anyone else, on average. But FAs tend to be a bit, erm, standoffish, not very relaxed, but very professional. On AC, the newly refurbished fleet, or new fleet, is excellent, avoid the old 767s, the A333s are fine, even un-refurbished. AC crews tend to be more relaxed and chatty, but still professional.
Overall, AC get slated for their product, but recent changes, especially with the new and refurbished fleet has created a step-change in quality, especially on the LHR-YYZ route. Meanwhile, BA have the most reliable inflight product and best lounges, but the state of LHR makes it feel a bit drab.
