Currently, AA, CO, DL, and NW all have published the same fare of $313 (before taxes and fees) round-trip. That is the "cheapest" in the market. Requires a 14 day advance purchase and a Saturday night stay.

Go to http://www.orbitz.com or a similar site. They will give you a list of airlines and airfare.

Thanks EAL727. I looked up Northwest and found a roundtrip fare for $373.43 all other carriers were higher.

That does look suspicious..a MD-80 Captain would not be asking questions such as this. He would know how it all works.

Sorry guys. I thought the job thing was like a job you wish you had. Thats why I put a MD-80 pilot. But I do work for Delta but as a ticket agent at SYR. I really don't know much about what airlines to fly with. Honestly, I think Delta fares are a little high. So please just tell me what airline is cheapest and don't give me a hard time.

Do you mind revealing on which date you wish to return to SYR? I found a fare on Hotwire for $323, but I was just picking a return date out of the air.

None of my business, but don't Delta employees get "positive space" tickets for 50% of published rates?

Hotwire is quoting $324 for those dates. Delta.com has a fare of $339 for evening flights both ways. If you are super flexible on your times, I would try Priceline, but don't expect miracles. You might be able to land a ticket for about $250.

I highly doubt you work for an airline. If you worked for DL you would be a little more aware about non reving on YOUR OWN AIRLINE. How long have you been working at delta? 2 days? How long have you been on earth? Next time I fly delta i want you in charge of my tickets and luggage, you seem very aware of life around you. Boy i wish i was a tin can captain too......................

BoeingPride800, If you're a ticket agent, you certainly have the opportunity to fare quote any fares at DL as well as all others that serve the city pairs.
I'm surprised you would ask such a question being a ticket agent.

If you work for DL I'd recommend flying for free as Delta is one of the few that doesn't even charge tax to non-revving employees. Why pay for another airline?

Gentlemen,

When I used to work for the airlines, I recall a 90-day probationary period before the flight benefits kicked in. If that is still the case, then our friend would not be able to non-rev.

Another site to try would be http://www.travelocity.com. Sometimes, you could get a lower fare by going to the airline's website itself. Hope you have seccess getting a low fare.

Even though the non-rev benefits would not yet have kicked in, he should still be able to know how to look up a fare.

It looks like Priceline might be your best bet.

you know guys, i hate the fact that when someone in an airline posts a questions all these nonesense flaming and the "i know it all" attitude starts showing here. what business do you guys have if he works or doesn't work for an airline? forums are for posting, not for being bashed.
