Hi I'm wondering if there are any pictures on the data base with you onboard a plane at the same time as the picture was taken.

Not by choice - (shamefully) at that stage of my life I still wasn't too keen on flying, even though it was only a few years ago. The aircraft just dropped very rapidly as it came in and then made a darn heavy landing on the foot of the runway, lots of nervous shrieks and God knows what the truck driver was thinking.

Nice pics! But how do you guys figure out that you were on that aircraft? Or, how did you know that an A.netter took a pic of the aircraft you're on and got posted online?

Because when we fly, we note the Registration (N) number of the particular aircraft we were on. We then look for photos with that particular aircraft at the location we either took off from or landed at and the particular date we were there.

Wow, that's smart.. but of so many people traveling and taking photos, the odds is quite slim that someone from a.net took a pic of that aircraft at that particular date/time at that particular airport. That's amazing. I'll try to do that on my upcoming flights next month and see if anything comes up a few weeks after.

Indeed-when I found the picture of the A300 above with me in it, I went back to the BTS database of flights just to ensure that I had the correct reg for my flight. I really couldn't believe it.

To use the BTS database to find the reg of a flight you were on, you can go to this link: http://www.bts.gov/programs/airline_...rmation/airline_ontime_statistics/ and click on one of the categories under "detailed statistics." Fill out the information with either your origin or destination, airline, date, etc and it will show your flight with the registration number. Note this only works for domestic flights.

Thanks for the link to this tool! On my upcoming flights I will take the tail number of the equipments I am on. On my travel report that I wrote a few months back, I was able to get the N-number of the aircraft I was on but on my succeeding trips, sometimes I get embarrassed to ask the flight crew for the tail number of our plane..

Let me help you; the code you need is [img] [/img] on these forums for hot-linking, using square brackets for the code. However, there is another much easier way; take the nine digit code which I have highlighted in your quote (and is listed separately by every picture in the database) above and put it in the following format;

"<"photoid":"0908808">"

Only leave out the quotation marks, they are only in there to stop the window cocking up. It should then leave you with something like this;

Just realised that I omitted perhaps the most obvious one in my list; EC-HQH, flown MAD-LPA during the Airliners.net meeting back in late summer 2005:
