I've always had good experiences with HP in general; last time I flew I upgraded to First at the last minute using my miles because that's the only way I could get a window seat (gotta have that window at any cost) and was pleasantly surprised. I had never flown First before, and never really seen the value; but the comfy leather seats, extra legroom, free unlimited drinks, and extra attentive service sure make a huge difference on a long flight. I think I'll probably start flying First more, being as inexpensive as it is on HP.
Like I said, that was the first time I had flown in First Class on any airline, so I can't really compare it to others. I enjoyed the experience, though, and assuming you're not an ultra-picky connoisseur of First Class Cabins, you should too.

I sat in 2D on a PHX-STL flight a few months ago. My outbound flight was cancelled, second was overbooked, then they couldn't find my luggage and so on. It was a horrible horrible day, but I kept my cool and finally got out of PHX at 6pm when I was supposed to leave at around 8am.
I got went to the ticket counter one last time and the agent told me I was upgraded due to my all of the frustration I had endured. I was on a 737 which only had four F seats. I was in 2D. Service was very nice, and the legroom was also very nice. This was also my time flying first, so it really wouldn't take much to leave me with a good impression.

It definitely is worth the upgrade to First especially on a flight longer than 2.5 hours where they serve food. Even though they are an LCC their First product as inexpensive as it is definitely ranks up there with other domestic First products on other carriers.
