I'll be traveling on UA 946 from IAD to AMS on 7/14 and arriving at AMS on 7/15. Then, I'll be flying on UA 919 from LHR to IAD departing and arriving on the 7/27.

If possible, I would like the registrations for the aircraft I'll be flying and any reviews and opinions on my flights. I know both of my planes will be a Boeing (no duh). One is a 777, but I don't know the generation. As much info that you can give is great.

Thanks

The registration wouldn't be available until 3-2 days before hand. There is no way to tell the registration 2 months in advance. I believe United only has 1 kind of international 777 (check seatguru.com for good seats). There is no multiple generations.

Check trip reports for reviews.

There are 2 cabin configs for international 777s. Check out the seatmaps and seatguru.

The new one (config. 2) would be the one with the brand new F and C suites (visit www.united.com/suitedreams)
I'm not sure if any of these have gone into service, though, and if they have it would only be a couple as of now. By summer the chances would be fairly good for getting on the new-version 777.

I didn't think any of the 777 were complete yet, i thought there were only 2 767 and 1 747 finished.

UA946 IAD-AMS on 14JUL will be a 763 with old config, 10F/32C/151Y

UA919 LHR-IAD on 27JUL will be a 777 with "Euro" config, 12F/49C/197Y. You really won't know until you see the tail number of the plane if you'll be on a 772A or 772ER, though. You won't notice the difference inside the cabin though, as they are identically configured.

The first reconfig for the 777 has not even started yet, as I don't think they have a specific tail# slated to be the first bird to get it. Expect to see the first done around the end of the year or so.

763's N647UA and N653UA are both completed with new interiors and operating pax flights on ORD-LHR and IAD-LHR. N641UA is currently out of service getting reconfigured.

744 N182UA is the first to get the new interior, though I'm not sure if it's officially entered service yet with pax flights. N182UA is scheduled to eventually operate IAD-FRA for a few months once it does enter service. After that the urban legend is it will operate IAD-PEK, though I've seen nothing in UA's systems to verify that. No word yet on which 744 will be next to get new interior.

Thanks for the info, any insight as to when more 767's will start getting the new interior? I read on flyertalk that the 747 seemed to be having some troubles, so I assume they will slow down outfitting new 747 until it is fixed.

I think since UA's widebody fleet is stretched thin as it is, only one plane will go in for reconfiguration at a time. Once N641UA is complete and in service, they will remove the 4th 763 for reconfig.

The problems around the 744 reconfig are now solved....AFAIK. It was my understanding that the new flat beds on the top deck extended too far out and blocked the starboard side door, so UA had to get the new config 744's evactuated and certified with only the single door on the port side on the top deck. The first evac test was failed, but the subsequent tries (not sure how many) finally were done sucessfully. Now, there could have been other complications, but that's the only one I was aware of. If that were the case, there should be no other problem or delay in 744 reconfigs. That having been said though, 744's will be reconfig'd one at a time too, for the same reason as the 763's.
