Longest Flight(s) On A 737?

Sorry if this has been posted before, but I did a search on this and came up empty.

I was booking a flight on Continental's website ...and as I was finishing up, I noticed a promo regarding flights from IAH to ANC. When I looked closer, I saw that CO uses the 738 on that route, which clocks in at 7 hrs 12 mins on the IAH-ANC leg ~ and 6hrs 50 mins on the return.

I have flown AS from MIA-SEA previously, which was close to 6 1/2 hours, and at the time I wondered to myself where that route placed as far as longest flights on the 737 (any variant). After finding out about CO's IAH-ANC route...obviously Alaska's isn't at the top.

My question is... is CO's route the longest flight on a 737, or is there a longer SCHEDULED COMMERCIAL FLIGHT for the 737? I'm only speaking of scheduled commercial service.

I know that there are flights from the US/Canadian West Coast to Hawaii which are 6+ hours (WJ YVR-HNL comes to mind, as well as Aloha's (R.I.P.) former flights)... but I'm not sure about flights in other parts of the world. Are there any routes longer than CO's IAH-ANC that are out there??

Thanks in advance for your answers/feedback.

Cheers.

IIRC Copa flies a 73G PTY-EZE non-stop - slightly longer at 3313mi (IAH-ANC is 3266mi)

Does this exclude BBJ? If not, I am sure Privatair will take the cake

SEATTLE, April 26, 1999 -- A recently delivered Boeing Business Jet (BBJ) has successfully completed the longest ever nonstop flight for a 737, Boeing Business Jets announced today. The airplane flew 13 hours 51 minutes 42 seconds and traveled 6,252.5 nautical miles (7,200.4 statute miles) (11,580 kilometers).

BBJ chief pilot Michael Hewett and former United Airlines 747 pilot Clay Lacy staged the airplane Thursday night at Martin State Airport near Baltimore, after leaving the PATS, Inc., modification center in Georgetown, Del. BBJ auxiliary fuel tanks are installed at PATS, Inc., after an airplane is delivered "green" (no paint or interior) to the customer in Seattle.

I expect the original poster was mainly interested in standard 737s, not BBJs with additional fuel tanks in the cargo/baggage compartment. If you are including BBJs, NH operates the 737-700ER, a BBJ variant, NRT-BOM, 3670 nm.

FJ (Air Pacific) operate a B737 NAN-HNL-YVR 5099 nm, which I belive is the longest scheduled commerical service. Although there is talk of cutting it back, or it may already have been cut back to HNL.

Longest flights I believe is referring to a non-stop flight which would eliminate the NAN-HNL-YVR if I'm thinking correctly, quite often I'm not.  Cool

The OP didn't stay non-stop. Therefore as it one flight, direct rather than non stop, it satisfies the original conditions.

Ya know you're correct, I was simply looking at the examples the OP was mentioning and they all seemed to be non-stop, thus my simple mind took the quick and easy!  Smile

It still operates twice a week as far as I know. FJ was going to drop the HNL-YVR leg a year or so agor and codeshare with Canadian carrier Harmony Airlines on the that sector but Harmony (then operating YVR-HNL with 757s) went out of business just before the codeshare was to begin and FJ continued operating the entire route themselves.

Thank you for clearing that up! Obviously I heard the first bit, but not the second.
