I'll always miss Eastern. Most of my flying when I was younger was on them and since they were the dominate airline in PHL at the time, I've always had an affinity for them.

Funny how much Viasa resembles Northwest's old red tail and Avensa resembles Pan Am's billboard livery.

Me personally, I most regret that I never got to fly on one of Pan Am's clippers. Those blue globes were a symbol of exotic travel. You thought "now that plane is really going somewhere."

I also really miss Eastern. It was flying Whisperliners JFK-SJU when I was a kid that put the love of flying in me.

I love that AA and AF see the value in their brand and haven't changed it in decades.

Seeing AA's planes also reminds me of those trips to SJU back in the day, and of what was perhaps a better time for flying. Living deep in DL territory now, I don't get to see or fly them much anymore.

AF's livery is also timeless, but to me looked its best on the Concorde. I remember seeing one takeoff from JFK once and to me it looked (and sounded) like some kind of spaceship. I swore I'd ride a Concorde someday, but never got the chance. I'll finally be flying on AF later this year, but it'll be an A340. I guess that's as close as I'm going to get.

Quoting Caymanair (Reply 7):

Right on Caymanair, I will miss those L1011s, the best service in the air in its times. IMO no airline could have compared with BWIA's Ibis service on the Longhaul, they won many awards with it too.

Miss those Concordes too, their grace in NYC was a sight for sore eyes.

I like current CX color scheme too, but when I was very young I had a dream to go to Kai Tak and to see those green planes wearing old livery on IGS approach in reality. Unfortunately it will never come true.
