I would like to see PR 747-400 to LAS. Is PR substituting 744 to LAS when A343 is on maintenance?

I believe PR's MNL-YVR-LAS sesrvice is already 5 per week and has been for quite a while. At least that's what Amadeus currently shows.

Doesn't PR have B777s and/or B787s on order? So I guess the chances of seeing an A340-500 on the LAS-route are somewhere between "slim" and "none"...  Sad

1. they don't have any A345's

2. I have flown this route a couple years ago, most of the passengers between LAS and YVR are either Canadians or American's. The stop over allows them to sell seats between YVR and LAS.

Even PR's own website shows 5 per week, the days you mention plus Friday.

And likely won't given that other carriers are disposing of theirs due to those being uneconomical. Still, it's intriguing to think about how cheap an airline should/could acquire a used frame (say from TG).....

.....and the required load factor, for it to be a viable proposition during these crazy fuel price escalation times. I too, don't think a LAS-MNL nonstop would be profitable. Firstly, does PR have the werewithal? Then, there's the Cat II downgrade to tackle.

Wouldn't an A340-500 carry the same (or possibly even less?) amount of passengers as an A340-300?

The -500 is slightly larger than the -300 (67.9m compared to 63.6m), so it should be capable of, at the very least, flying a larger amount of passengers over the same distances... though I'd be extremely surprised if it couldn't carry that larger amount of passengers over larger distances as well.

It's very far from being a done deal.

San Diego?! Really! Why SAN. They should try for SFO, or better yet, somewhere on the East Coast! I would like to see PAL in IAD  Smile. If they do get to the east coast. their best bet might be JFK, but its so congested. I wouldn't mind seeing PAL in ORD either. There are mnay Filipinos (like myself) that would like to go back home and normally, its by NWA. I love NWA, but if PAL somes into play, many people might opt PAL instead. If you take NWA, the gateway cites are mainly DTW, MSP, MEM, and I've seen some ORD flights for Asia. Normally, you would then connect in NRT or KIX. While other passengers connect to other flights, most of the pax stay around the gate area because they use the same plane to proceed unto MNL. If PAL comes to the east coast, it would probably direct to MNL. There are many Filipinos in NYC, Florida, DC/MD/VA area, and ORD that would be a propective market if PAL comes on this side.
