i'm feeling mischievous today, and wanted to start a forum (maybe even a war... hehehe) on sq vs mh. i would love to hear your opinions on both airlines, from utilization of official website, booking, check-in, airport lounges, fleets, seats, in-flight services, cabin crew, catering, ife, luggage handling, scheduling/routes, klia vs changi, etc. i'm sure that i'd be able to learn a few things from this discussion, so that i could better myself (at least in the in-flight service dept) on my future flights. thank you.
Ladies & Gentlemen, we will now demonstrate the use of the safety equipment on this aircraft...

Personally I prefer MH, main reasons
1. Seat pitch, 34" inch in economy, instead of 32", it makes alot of difference for a tall person
2. Service from cabin staff is more personal and individual
3. Catering I feel is slightly better than SQ
4. KLIA is a far nicer airport, aesthetically than SIN, more spacious design
5. Large route network, easy connections from Australia
SQ's main advantages are, superior IFE, First and Business Class seats more advanced design, for the time being anyway. Part of Star Alliance Network, website is better.

SQ is better and more comfortable when it comes to departure time, seats, internet, IFEs, lounges, etc...However, SQ needs to work on their personnel attitude. They seem to be snobbish and not genuine at all. This mirror from the moment you check-in to the inflight FAs. It's probably because they think that their carrier is way above others.
MH is getting so much better in the recent years... It'll be at par when they launch their new b/c seats, etc..
I like flying SQ if only MH's FAs were working the flights... A combination of the 2 carriers would make it the best airline ever.

MH has better cabin crew in terms of being more friendly
SQ has better seats, ESPECIALLY in first and business class (just cannot compare to MH at all)
IFE: SQ was streets ahead as well-a much larger selection of movies, AVOD, etc.
Lounges-prob on par.
Klia is better looking than Changi,as Chrisrad said but Changi offers infinitely better connections and a wider range of facilitilies.
Overall impression: I think SQ is a much classier carrier with alot more style, even down to liveries, image, etc. They would be my choice over the two. MH is still a bit 'kampong' but has made very significant strides in the last few decades.

Has any1 ever wondered or asked...why r SQ FAs robotic??And why r MH`s FAs so different from SQ`s.After all both airlines arent that much different..they were from the same company only 30 years ago(MSA).And our countries are so near to each other...both having the same multi racial population.

I missed the part about VS. I would go for VS, but I have not flown on SQ and MH.

My name say it all
I don't mean to brag but I never( maybe once) saw Y class. Most of my experiences (beside the LCC) on an airline is in Upper or Biz Class.
VS is great at providing entertainment because you get the same entertainment in every class. That's why MY vote goes to Virgin

Never flown MH so I can't comment.
SQ is great but their inflight service has gone down since SARS and they are doing things on the cheap these days.
One of my co-workers is an ex SQ girl and she says that they are so cheap, the crew don't get a meal from NRT-SIN cause SQ can't afford the catering, they have to take their own food on that flight. Passengers only get one meal and no snack before landing.
Not very good for the world's number 1/2 airline depending on who you believe.
Maybe flying on VS later in the year...Looking forward to my first A346 experience.
