Quoting TurkishWings (Thread starter): Another question is about NWA upgrades offered during online-check in. Will they ask me when I check in on KLM website too?
I have no experience, but I would not count onto it.
Online-check in:
Enter your booking reference and/or FF-number.
Select flights
Select seats
Enter (if not already done), your personal information & first address in the U.S.
After confirmation, you will receive an eMail with your Boarding Pass as PDF-document (maybe also a receipt).
Print this Boarding Pass.
Head for the airport.
Drop your to-be-checked luggage - usually there is a signposted "bag drop"-counter by KL - and have it checked-through to LAX (not DTW).
Fly to AMS
Connect to DTW with a new security check at the gate at AMS.
Fly to DTW
Go through immigration.
Important: Collect your luggage.
Pass US Customs
Drop your luggage (already labelled for LAX) onto a signposted belt.
Head for departures (again a new security check included).
Fly to LAX.
Enjoy L.A, the coach ride to Las Vegas and Las Vegas itself ....
Btw: On the return flight, your luggage will go all the way from LAS to IST without any need (or chance) to pick it up at DTW or AMS.

I will be on these very full flights. I secured a nice window seat on AMS-MSP but no seats available to chose on MSP-LAX. I might end up being stuck in an undesirable middle seat for 4 hours Same goes fro the return LAS-DTW flights...
