there are hundreds of airports in the US that only have one carrier. I'm sure Canada is the same with relatively few carriers.

Quoting Davehammer (Reply 3): Also Plymouth, PLH is only served by Air Southwest I believe.
We also now have Highland Airways operating in with the J31 several times a week from Filton and the occasional Isles of Scilly flight, especially at Christmas when they offer shopping trips to Plymouth for the day.
More traffic would be appreciated though, I dream one day of KLM, LH or AF serving PLH

For a brief period in the very late 1990's, BFL was reduced to United Express EM2's to LAX and SFO after AA pulled their DFW flight.
After growing to 5,300+ seats per week since then, but by the end of this year, there will only be UA Express to LAX, SFO, and DEN, and USExpress to PHX. Everything else will be gone.

Capital cities served by only 1 airline:
Maseru Int'l Airport in Lesotho by Airlink (SAA)
Pyongyang, North Korea by Air Koryo
Funafuti, Tuvalu was served only by Air Fiji, but I am not sure if Air Pacific is flying the route currently.

Somehow Air China believes that there is enough of a market for a second airline on the PEK-FNJ...I wonder how it is decided who is chosen to be stationed in Kimland?
