Hello all from a frustrated me!
I am flying KLM tonight to AMS from DEL and wanted to check in for the flight along with my girlfriend and get the nice 2 seats on the MD-11 in the 7th row, i was ready to pay the extra 50 Euros for the Seat Choice option.
But 30 hours before, when i tried checking in, i would get to the seat choice page and select a new seat and the darn page would show some error and stop working!
I did it a couple of times and wasnt successful ! Then after some time, whenever i would enter my booking code i would get a message saying that my reservation couldnt be found. My girlfriends was showing up, but mine wasnt!
Then subsequently, hers also vanished, and now the check in page isnt opening at all!! Its very frustrating, because i could see our "preferred" seats vanish and we were sitting here twiddling our thumbs.
I tried several computers and both Firefox and IE had the same result!
Anyways, its just frustrating, because i know once i get to the airport they are gonna throw something stupid in our face and say that there are no 2 seats available together.

I have written KLM on several occassions complaining about all the bugs on their site (I cannot even book a flight sometimes) and all I get back are lame excuses. Maybe you all should start complaining to them as well. Maybe they'll listen...

I'd call KLM and ask them to give you a seat assignment on the phone. It 99% of the time works for me if I cannot self check in. Better than waiting till you get to the airport where you may end up in middle seats no where near each other.

Agreed. Tried to book one time via their website an itinerary which could be considered as not too complicated (CGN to AMS and back a few days later - no award booking or something else which would make it "special"). It was a mess and a pain at the same time. After various hours and browsers I managed to book it, with the site stating I would have an e-ticket, but without mailing me something which looked like one. In the end, I received a nice big envelope from KLM, containing a paper ticket for my itinerary together with some bag tags. I was delighted to see a paper ticket for intra-european flights in 2004!
TUIFly also uses KLM's online check-in software. I had some same-day returns recently with them. The only way you could check-in online for the return leg, when both legs were in one booking, was to manually manipulate the address line in order to be shown the seat map for the return flight. Check-in then was possible without problems though. Still not something which I would consider as "user friendly".
