Is it me or has the West lost the plot when it comes to the art of First Class travel.
The Asian-Far East airlines now certainly lead the market in this field, Be it Singapore,Etihad,Jet,JAL or Emirates the experience is head and shoulders above any US carrier and we Europeans, but worryingly we show no inclination to fight back. BA once had a great product but is now a tad better than Club World. There is a market for this product but it seems the West have all but given up on it, yet they still want to charge a similar price.
Who would you rather travel with in First?

Don't forget BA new F under development, premiering in 2009 I believe. Fair to say it will be evolutionary rather than revolutionary, but I don't think it's fair to say they've "all but given up on it".
Once you have tasted flight, you will walk the earth with your eyes turned forever skyward
Last February I traveled from KWI to LAX. EK to DXB then CX to LAX through HKG (usually on BA or LH through LHR or FRA) and I enjoyed every minute of it for the following reasons:
- The new CX First Class is excellent, very comfortable and spacious.
- Flight attendants are highly skilled and extremely nice.
- Food is excellent.
- Price is about 40% less than BA and 35% less than LH. (competitive fares)
Even though it has more flying hours through Asia but it is worth it.
SQ also superb, done it from SIN to LHR.
EY also great.
I would fly First Class on CX, SQ, JAL EK, QR, EY rather than BA or LH.

I must say the new F on QF A380 looks absolutely amazing.would definitely want to try that one out (though to be honest, I wouldn't exactly decline SQ/CX/EK/EY/QR, and NH has a great F product as well).
The trip was left to me in an aunts will, she went there in First a few years back and had a ball.
Total surprise to me when she died earlier this year that she had left the price of the flight in her will and wanted me to enjoy as she had done.

Agree. I never got a chance to fly on any of First Class on SQ or QR (my two top desires) but any other airlines are far... very far from Asian and Middle East operators. They put together technology (seat/entertainment), food and a fantastic staff/service.
New York + Rio de Janeiro = One of the best combinations !
Not at all. and it wasn't a comparison to anything else, I've just mentioned that this is a superb F seat they offer on the A380. no, it's not a suite. but I can live peacefully even without the doors closing in on me.
