What can I expect flying first class on UA 777? Also, Business on TP and Business on LH and First on LH.

I am flying from IAD-LIS via LHR. Has UA updated all their T7s with the new first class cabins? How is LHs first class on a 747? I am super excited about my trip.

Well, I've never been on UA F yet, but they do have a new F product that definitely seems worth checking out!
The service in LH F is great and very attentive, but the seats are quite old.

If the route you wish to fly is served by UA aircrafts in which the new F is installed, I'd have chosen that (but check that ahead to make sure!). if not, definitely go with LH.

No idea about TP, but from what I hear their C is nothing special.

Sadly UA hasn't started upgrading it's 777's at all as yet. The United 'Suits Deams' website shows which flights have the new product but they are all 767/747 flights.

Also, Business on TP and Business on LH and First on LH.

Are these longhaul flights (TATL) or shorthaul flights within Europe) ?
Makes big differences in answers ...

Unless you are booked on a A306 (aka Kontschaufel ) the only 2 differences from Eco are : 1. The middle seat is blocked. 2. The meal is a bit better. There are no specific Business Class seats - only the (all ?) A306's have dedicated Business Class seats.

LHR-LIS-TP--Business

On TP's A319/320/321 it basically will be the same. i.e. only blocked middle seats.

Can' t say; I only have experince in Business TATL ...

Actually LH's F-Class is quite outdated,(seats are still pretty cozy), but the service is excellent. Furthermore you have all goodies, Lufthansa First Class Terminal, Personal Driver Service with Porsche Cayenne or Mercedes S-Class to the aircraft....

Plus, LH offers a very nice Rimowa amenity kit at the moment.... just for this it's worth doing it.... Smile

Hope you enjoy your trip.

cheers,

LH F service is among the best. I've done BA/LH/QF/AF/CX/AA/SQ/NH/CI/TG in longhaul F and LH is among the best out there.

Well, I was wondering how long I will get away with it until the subject rises  Smile
But I'm happy it did -

I don't know why are people on this site referring to Business class as J. for most airlines, C is the dedicated abbreviation for Business. to be honest, apart from U.S carriers, I have never met any airline referring to its Business class as J. in all the airline systems I know, C is the common for business - what with it being the standard highest class in Business (as Y is in Economy). and I'm sorry, I really tried, but I just can't bring myself to calling it J.

Among Business Class there are a lot of different booking/fare classes, like Full Fare, Non Rev, Special Rate....
Furthermore, First Class is also available as F or A.

I'm well aware. among the Business class booking fares I know are C,D,J,Z,R,I,W and so on. First can be F,A,O, even P.
but the pure fact is, that most airlines (maybe except the U.S carriers) use F,C,Y... I really don't know why people here use only J to describe Business class.

Many airlines use J for business class. Originally, the C code was mainly used for the intra-European type of business class products and J for longhaul services where service standards were much higher. However some carriers seem to prefer one code or the other as the primary code for business class. Whenever I book LX business class (both longhaul and shorthaul) the E-ticket always shows J class, regardless of the actual reservations booking designator.

I think BA uses J for their longhaul product and C within Europe. AC uses J although C is an inventory-controlled booking code, unless that has changed recently. It all depends on the carrier.

How is LHs first class on a 747?

As you may know, the LH First Class is located in the upper deck with 16 seats 2-2 configuration. Personally, I didn't like it especially when traveling alone because you might have someone sitting next to you and this wont be comfortable. I prefer the A340 and A330 configuration 1-2-1. LH F/C Service is great, IFE is v. good, First class terminal is out of this world, Seats are outdated (too bad).
I prefer UA First Class over LH 747 F/C only because of their seat configuration 1-2-1 .

Enjoy the trip.

Nothing special, below average service, average food, average IFE. their F/C window seats are better than LH 747 seats.

There is a huge gap between U.S. carriers and European carriers in terms of service, food and IFE. I have nothing against U.S. carriers but that is a fact. I've been in F/C on many U.S. and European carriers such as PA, TW, AA, UA, DL, NW, CO, BA, LH, SR, VS, KL.
When you travel a lot with different carriers you can easily tell which one is the best.  Smile
