It all has to do with the weirdness of code-sharing, NWA flights certainly are listed on delta.com, you just have to pick the right routes. Some are NWA flights, but listed as DL segments. Some are real NWA flights, with NWA numbers.
I had one trip for work which ended in a Memphis-Atlanta segment, the whole trip booked on NWA, all on NWA flight numbers. It turned out the last segment was on DL metal.
When I checked in, the gate attendant took one look at my NWA boarding pass, stated "oh hun, you're sitting in the wrong seat ..." and promptly gave me a medallion upgrade to first ...
Best part about it was the miles I got from that segment were awarded as true DL miles as full coach fare, which far exceeded what I would have gotten through the Skyteam match from the original NWA ticketed segment, which was a heavily discounted fare.
Ahh the weirdness of airline schedules and fare rules.

Right now, I assume that only certain routes or city pairs haved codeshares. I read somewhere that soon, DL will put their code on ALL NW flights but I wonder if the opposite will be true, also?

Hey Litz...thanks for the explanation. Makes some sense...but still confusing. Like you said the secrets.
The DL flights that were listed on nwa.com from MKE to ATL were all listed as direct DL metal with DL flight numbers. (is that a sign of no code sharing?)
I would have assumed (we all know where that leads...) that the MKE to either DTW or MSP would have been NW flights...but the ones going to DTW were all routed on DL thru CVG. NW has 6 daily flights from MKE to DTW. So I was just surprised that none of the flights listed on DL were NWA flights.
I've been loyal to NW for the last 3 years or so...been a long time since I flew on DL. Haven't visited their website in a while either.
Looking at / comparing the websites tho...can't wait for the NWA site to be portal for DL (and NW for the time being).
Mayor...thanks for the comment. Can only hope that they consolidate soon. If i was looking at delta.com and see that I can only get from MKE to DTW via CVG (being from MKE knowing better...but someone connecting, etc)...it would be frustrating seeing the boards with all the NW direct flights.
