Chances Of Getting A Class Upgrade?

When flying In the past, if the airline had seats left in Biz or First you could get upgraded from Eco if you asked politely when checking in. Is this still possible? If so, how big do you think the chance is when flying long-haul?

The problem is there are loads of people who are frequent fliers and Executive Club members who would be upgraded before you. Unless you know one of the crew, you wont get upgraded! lol

Exactly. I've been upgraded quite a few times on BA, either through knowing the crew on board, contacts at the airline or because of being BA Silver. Without that, I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have been upgraded. Good Luck!

I was upgraded the first time I ever flew on BA, but that was (possibly) because it was on my birthday. He just mentioned it before I left, "I've upgraded you by the way".
