Hey all!

I am flying Emirates this coming Saturday and it seems lately that there are a lot of mixed opinions about what the Emirates experience is in real life, versus what the airline bills it to be. I'm flying coach on these sectors: JFK-DXB (A380), DXB-COK (772), TRV-DXB (A332), DXB-JFK (773).

With so many mixed opinions, I was wondering what your thoughts on Emirates economy class service is!

Thanks yall,
JBLU

I have flown them twice ( VIE-DXB A332 and DXB-ZRH A340-500) and both time the service was good and professional. Nothing extraordinary but good.  Smile

I like them and would fly again.  Smile

Enjoy your trip.

What I like most about EK is their ICE entertainment system. Time really flies away with it... The service is professional but nothing extraordinary. I also enjoy seeing a variety of nationalities working as a cabin crew on board. Plus you will get to experience the A 380  Wink

I've found that they are good but not anything I'd consider exceptional when compared to what other coach products can be found on similar routings.

They have a good P.R service and good communication that makes their reputation far above what they really are.

JFK-DXB will be very good.

DXB-COK will be alright

TRV-DXB will be very good

DXB-JFK will be alright.

...I would predict

Thanks for the replies all! I'll be sure to do a trip report, especially on the A380 leg...

My EK experiences: MUC-DXB-BKK return, on B777-? and A332. Very tight seating, not much shoulder room - but the best meals I have ever got in Y and the great ICE on 777.

Interesting.... why do you predict that? I'm really curious. Is it the A380 vs. 773?

Thanks

I have experienced this route on several occasions and it seems that EK crew take pride on the A380 and this makes service enjoyable and of a very high standard.
Also, there is a far roomier feel on the A380. If you are in the middle of a row on 77W you feel very cramped and restricted. On the A380, the atmosphere is completely different and people move around so much that it seems easier to move around yourself, no matter where you are seated.

Might as well ask here...

If you've been to Dubai Terminal 3, what did you think of it?

Are there views of the aircraft/stands while airside?

T3 is a massive improvement.

Some positives:

- Better check-in facilities;

- Light and airy feel / atmosphere;

- Reasonable views of a/c parked up as gate areas aren't blocked off;

Negatives:

- Not great for photography due to curved glass;

- Shopping mall feel with some dark corners.

Overall, a great improvement that should make transiting DXB more pleasant.

Thanks for all the info! I'm hoping that the return 77W will have the updated seats and entertainment system, but I'm not sure if EK gives any favor to the JFK flights regarding which 77Ws they send... We shall see!

Definitely!

JFK, on the whole, see EK's most recently updated a/c.

Those photos make the A380 look massive (although it probably is)... but even in the photos you can feel how big and roomy it is.

Thanks.

So do most gates have reasonably good views of aircraft parked there? I suppose you could also get fairly good views of taxiing aircraft from certain gates?

Any other locations while airside that offers fairly good views?

They're alright. Put it this way,the views are similar to those at T3 LHR.

I'm passing through DXB in 5 days time so I'll check it out and maybe take some photos.

I have to agree. Their ICE is fantastic.

I did MAN-DXB-BKK-DXB-MAN and i found it weird that the captain on all four legs of the trip was Australian. The flight crew coming back were mostly Welsh aswel which i thought was strange. But it is nice to see.

I thought they were excellent, the entertainment as i already mentioned was great, along with the food/drinks and the service was very good. Nothing was ever too much trouble and they always had a smile! I would definately fly with them again. Enjoy your trip.
