I am looking at the flights available to Dhaka from South East Asian region and there isn't that many good priced ones. Looks like no low cost carriers fly there apart from Indian ones. I think I heard somewhere that Air Asia wants to start flying to Dhaka sometimes in the future can anyone confirm. That would certainly be nice.

AirAsia has been saying they want to start DAC for 2 years now, but nothing thus far.
I think your best bet is trying to get an online deal on MH - I know of people who traveled for US$99 return DAC-KUL-DAC.
Thai has cut capacity to DAC from daily to 5 weekly. I believe GMG Airlines of Bangladesh has restarted twice weekly flights to BKK -- but please check with the airline.
They were never the cheapest to DAC, so I am not sure you will find them any cheaper than MH.
There are 2 Bangladeshi private carriers flying to KUL: GMG Airlines and Best Air. GMG has the better reputation, and although they had a few hiccups, I have heard that they are doing very well on the KUL run.
Best Air is less reliable and just read a story in a Bangladeshi newspaper that they have had trouble getting luggage from KUL/SIN on-time (non-stop direct flight). Biman has also experienced luggage issues, mainly for substituting smaller aircraft on the KUL / SIN runs while allowing generous luggage allowance to passengers (guess they gave larger allowance, but did not promise the luggage will get there with the passenger :p ).
Finally, Air India Express is offering flights from DAC to SIN via CCU. Takes longer, but apparently they are very cheap.

Thanks for the reply Planemannyc. Yeah I really hope that Air Asia strats Dacca and probably Chittagong flights sometime soon. I mean Bangladesh is very underserved in my opinion and Air Asia would do really well with their low fares since most of the fares to/from Bangladesh are quite pricey thus discouraging the travellers to visit the country and letting the Bangladeshi people travel abroad.

I know it's not from the South East Asian region, but EK fly to DAC multiple times a day and from internals murmurs I've heard amongst crew EK are hoping to start flights to Chittagong as well.
Qatar also flies to DAC from DOH, as does Dragonair though they operate on a really nightmarish schedule (leaving at really odd hours of the night). I know that Hong Kong Air was planning to start flights, don't know if they actually did.
SQ also flies daily with a B772 though I'd imagine they aren't the cheapest option.
I would avoid Biman at all costs - you can check out trip reports from the forum and while they do offer exotic aircraft to fly on, it will always be a question whether you ever make it to Dhaka.
