I have several flights with them in February, and am wondering if they are a good airline or not.. I also have a connecting flight- meaning I have 45 minutes To get around Charlotte IF we're on time. Leading me to ask, are they reliable and are they on time?

45 minutes is enough time in CLT. It's a decent hike from Concourse E to B/C, but doable. CLT is by far US' nicest hub - PHX and LAS are nothing special, and PHL should just be bulldozed.
As for reliability, they get you there. What are your exact flights though? US has extensive operations in the Northeast, and it can get ugly there in the winter. Just hope your equipment doesn't have to touch PHL, as that will increase the possibility of a delay.
As for them being a good airline, I refuse to spend my money with them (so much so that I've paid $800 more for a Delta GSO-ATL nonstop than take a US Air connection). Planes are in bad shape (I've seen duct tape holding together overhead bins, pen marks all over seats, just really worn down on the 737s...), they have tacky as heck ads on the traytables, they charge for drinks (non-alcoholic drinks!) and they have a really pathetic FF program (which is a huge downer for me) - they've taken away First Class seats, cut down on pitch in F (it's the same as E+ on UA), removed F seats, bonus miles are less for elites than other airlines at the Gold/Platinum levels (and it takes 120 segments to make top tier, while it's 100 on every other airlines).

I've had more bad luck on US than any other carrier. More cancelled flights. Stranded at more airports overnight with nothing but my briefcase between me and the floor. Paid for a 1st Class on a red eye and ended up with a dog (yes, a dog as in four legs) on the lap of the passenger in the adjacent seat....
Unless you have no other option, I'd fly well out of your way to avoid them....

Charlotte is a nice airport and in 45 mins, you should make it, even if its an express to mainline connection. Even some expresses dock at Con. C and B. No worries. I have a 59 min. connection in March . You'll be fine.
I've never had a problem with them. I even got upgraded to First for free ! Very Nice and Very Strong company!

USAirways is junk.
Junk planes, junk hubs, junk food, and sometimes junk crews.
The fact that they charge $2 to serve you a glass of water SHOULD have been your first indication.
You asked for opinions, and there's mine. No doubt countless people will soon reply that I am wrong, all wrong, as they have in the past. But suffice it to say that I closed my Dividend Miles account after dumping miles by buying reward tickets for OTHER PEOPLE.
P.S.- don't pack anything in checked luggage that you actually want to keep. But then, that's true for most carriers.

I intensely dislike US for a number of reasons, but you have a half-decent chance of making a 45 minute connection thru CLT. If any of your US routings are thru PHL, change them now while you have a chance.
I've successfully avoided any US flights for almost two years now, thank goodness. Perhaps they've made a miracle turnaround and it's all sweetness and light, but it sure doesn't sound like it. I don't care to find out for myself any time soon.

While US had a great crew last thursday on flight 1549, you will never see me pay for a ticket with them. I remember cracking up a few years ago when they merged and called themselves "The first full service low fare carrier." This really doesn't make any sense. Plus everything is just bottom of the barrel service compared to other US carriers, which definitely says something. What kind of airline gets off charging you for a non-alcoholic beverage?
If you want to fly with the star alliance in the domestic US, do yourself a favor and just fly United. They are much better.

Im afraid I have to add my voice to the chorus of disapproval for US, just look at my signature sure!!
Lets see, I flew 7hours transatlantic on a 757 with no IFE (it wasnt working due to static!!) and a toilet door that was stuck open so there was a constant smell and the sound of gushing air. Our connection in PHL was cancelled due to "no available aircraft" even though there was a plane of the exact same type I was meant to fly parked at the gate. And the final straw was them losing my luggage! I only flew them to get my Star miles, and I can honestly say never again!!
