Hi guys,
My wife & 6 yr old son flew MUC-BOM on LH A340 & my son was gutted to find that there was no IFE on individual seats. My wife was pissed with me for booking such a flight where she had to keep on answering his "Are we there yet ?" every 15 mins after the first 1 hour when his Nintendo DS died.
They are returning back this sunday BOM-FRA on LH 744. Now I think that again there will be no individual IFE in Y. Can anyone pls confirm that.
I will have to be prepared for 1 very very bored 6 yr old & 1 very very angry wife. (We are a traditional couple - anything that goes wrong in our house/life is ALWAYS my fault, but if things are fine then its because of her)

Tell both of them that every minute you watch a screen as near before your eyes ten brain cells die.. and take two Nintendo spare batteries with you. Use them wisely....

If you tell your wife to ask very quietly if the CSD can find some way of charging your son's DS - they have powerports in the lockers in the aft galley. She can only say no...
What do you mean you dont have any bourbon? Do you know how far it is to Houston? What kind of airline is this???

I'm surprised that you pay money to participate in this forum but you didn't know about LH's well known shortcomings in the individual IFE department I too favor AVOD when I travel with my young son and will gladly pay more for it but when that's not possible, it's laptop to the rescue. I even bought a spare long lasting massive battery to have enough juice for those 8 hours flights.

Yeah, LH does not have PTV in their 744 nor are they going to refit them any time soon. The A343s are s l o w l y getting theirs installed but it'll take a while before the chance of getting a 343 with AVOD are actually measurable. The 346s have them already. Next time just fly Qatar Airways (and there is absolutely no self-interest in that recommendation...)

I am a little bit confused. I copied this from seaplans.com:
Lufthansa’s economy class seats are 44cm wide and recline 23 degrees from vertical. On the carrier’s B747s, these are configured ten-across (3-4-3) and have a pitch range of 79-89cm.
Economy passengers have individual seatback screens with touch-screen navigation and a choice of up to ten films, as well as radio programmes and music magazines.
I am flying LH 747-400 EWR-FRA in June, Economy. Will there be a seatback screen with some entertainment?

IFE on Lufthansa? Hah!
The only IFE you will get are 50yo FAs asking you "Sssamsssing to drink?"
(I am German, it's okay... )
So far only the new longhaulers to their fleet are equipped with individual IFE (A340-600s and the A330-300s).
The A340s are slowly getting IFE. Might take a while until the whole fleet will have PTVs.
As for the B744 - I am not too sure wether they will EVER get PTVs. They won't be flying for so much longer anyway. Does anybody have insight on this?
BTW, that's the reason I never choose LH on any flights longer than 2 hours

Thank you for the information, Wilco and A3XX. Oh well, we will bring books and magazines, it's not so bad. I traveled trans-Atlantic on DC-8s when there was no entertainment, except trying to navigate one's way to the lavatory!!
But everyone in my office has told me that Lufthansa is very professional and efficient, one of the best airlines in the world, so I'm looking forward with pleasure. Since I am of German descent (and Jewish too), I can muddle along in German and Yiddish. So that should bring some entertainment to the old flight attendants!!
They show movies on the main screen. That may be a little bit oldfashioned but at least you watch a movie from the beginning to the end without zapping around. This is like cinema vs. television.
