Hey a.netters,

I have a quick question...I am currently in the process of reserving a ticket for my father to BEY. However, the flights that he prefers to go on do not show up when I try to book it from my home airport, MCO, therefore I have to buy each ticket separately.

MCO-JFK on DL-- Economy Class (separate ticket)
JFK-FRA on LH-- Business Class (separate ticket)
FRA-BEY on LH-- Economy Class (separate ticket)

Can DL check in the bags all the way through BEY, even though each segment of the trip is on a distinct ticket?

With 3 PNRs mixing DL and LH, chances are slim to none that DL at MCO will be able to do that.
A while ago, I was considering to fly LH within Germany to MUC and continue on DL to ATL (business trip in B/E) on a single PNR, but refrained from doing so after having heard from fellow collegues that they had to retrieve their checked luggage at MUC and make a new check-in with DL (after having changed terminals at MUC).
___________
Once having reached JFK, LH should be able to check-thru luggage to BEY and issue BPs for both segments (even with 2 PNRs involved).

Actually, you are able to check the bags all the way through provided he has his two lufthansa printed itineraries, and that means directly from the travel agent or their website. If he is unable to provide those documents he will be unable to check his bag all the way through.

As far as I am aware, LH and DL have baggage agreements. The only downside is he will have to wait until he arrives into JFK and proceeds over to Terminal 1? to check in for his LH flight as DL and LH are not Skyteam Partners.
