I recently flew UA between ORD and LAX on the oldest airplane I ever saw in my life (a B767). It was in a good shape overall but the interior was extremely old fashioned. I only got a partial reg which was written just above the front landing gear and which read "6667". I immediately looked at airfleets.net and saw that the closest reg to that was N667UA. According to this website, the plane was delivered new in 1998. I thought it was impossible because a 10 year old plane would have a much newer interior. Can anyone confirm that I flew this airplane? If so, was it really delivered "new" in 1998?

Thanks

Seriously???  eyebrow

"6667".

6xxx = 767
x6xx = 2-cabin domestic
xx67 = last two digits of the N-number

6667 = domestic 2-cabin 767-300, N667UA

Yes and yes.

Only the international 3-cabin birds (63xx and 64xx) are getting the interior upgrades, not the 2-cabin domestic birds.

Also, the Boeing Signature Interior did not come out until around 2000 so the "new" in 1998 N667UA had the original 767 interior..."old" by some people's standards, but all that was available until the Signature Interior was rolled out.

Please pardon my ignorance, but don't all of UA's 777s have the Signature Interior, and weren't they launched by UA in the mid-1990s? Or, was the 777 interior standard, and the same interior wasn't offered to _other_ planes until around 2000?

Pilot: "Request push, which way should we face?" JFK Ground: "You better face the front, sir, or you'll scare the pax!"

The Boeing Signature Interior is based on the 777 interior. It wasn't offered until around 2000 for other aircraft, namely the 767. It is standard on all 764's and I believe all new-build 763's and the CO 762's since the time of offering. It can also be retrofitted on 767's with the original interior as well.
