HI, Can anybody tell me what Frankfurt main is like for spotting and would i get any trouble from the authorities,and the best place for taking photos.I will be there for two days in June.Also would i need to hire a car to get the best out of my trip any help would be appreciated,many thanks.

I love FRA for spotting. Especially the A-gates are great, as you are close to the taxiway and runways are parallel to the A-gates. Terminal 2 has a very nice terrace. What I escpecially love about FRA is the diversity in airlines and aircraft.

And last but not least; they also offer complimentary tea and coffee (airside)

Edit: I never had any problems making photos of aircraft.

Apart from getting to the platform along runway 18, a car is not recommended, as there hardly is any free parking around the airport (certainly not around the terminals).

Not as long as you do not enter any restricted areas or break some other law.
Even the use of airband scanners usually is tolerated.

I also like the spot in front of the 25 when they come in directly over you.
