According to this article (in Spanish) Spanair is looking for a new logo, livery and all over company image. This comes as JK has been acquired by a group of Catalan investors planning to reposition it as the leading carrier at BCN. Both employees and customers can elect one of the two logos posted below (until May 10th).

Quoting USFlyer MSP (Reply 3): I dislike both, wayyyyyy too generic.....if I had to choose, I guess I would choose the all-blue one as it is cleaner. The blue and orange one reminds me of Turkish for some reason.
Plus the text used on the blue one looks much nicer than the other one.

Isn't the font and the color combo of the first logo pretty much the same as Lufthansa? The second one reminds me of Dreamliner for some reason, but to me looks really boring. They both do. If I had to pick I'd say the second one, just because they might have more potential to do something cool with that one once they actually paint their planes.

Quoting Ota1 (Reply 7): maybe they should combine the orange logo with the other font...
I think that would look nice, the orange is the only reason I like the first logo as it adds a bit of colour but the font is really cheap looking whereas the second logo is very boring but the font is much smarter would look quite good with the orange.

I have immediately visited the page and....saw the two choices. To my surprise, one of the options is extremly similar to that of Lufthansa : same type of wrtitting, same color...and a rounded orange logo. From my point of view the only thing missing is the Crane to cry Bingo !
My question is : Is that legal ? Is there no other way to create a new identity than copying one that is recognisable all around the world ?
I home this option is not the one winning the survey...
