Good morning A.netters,
This was down to curiosity more than anything. I was wandering if this is worth the money? It is considerably cheaper than VS's Premium Economy lets put it that way!
Anyone flown in World Traveller Plus on BA? Let me know all the details! Please please please!

Being 6 foot tall it's definitely worth it, it made my flight to YYZ last year much more comfortable than flying economy. The meal service is the same as economy but all airline food is crap no matter what class your in, I always make sure I have something decent to eat before my flights. The PTV service is the same as BA economy except you also get a selection of computer games to play WT+.
There's not much difference to economy but the leg room is worth the money on its own in my opinion.

So why do so many people complain about the lack of "crap" food on flights - short flights of an average of about 90 minutes' duration - aboard the low-cost airlines? I certainly agree with you, mind.

Muttley, good question!
I would have thought the difference between WT and WT+ would depend on the route (so the difference between one route and another could be vastly different) but here is what i found from ba.com:
LHR-JFK and back on WT+ is 595 GBP whereas WT is 195 (400 pounds diff.)
LHR-NRT WT+ 1,120 pounds and WT is 710 pounds (410 pounds difference)
LHR-KWI WT+ 780 pounds and WT is 370 pounds (410 pounds difference)
(prices exclude tax for fairer comparison reasons, and are for Dec 04 period).
Im quite surprised to see that on 3 of their routes, its 400 pounds (return), which seems like a fair price difference considering one gets a few perks like (Jkw777, this one's for you):
*get your own cabin,
*more legroom,
*seats that are 2_4_2 configuration rather than 3_4_3 on the 744.
*Plus, if you are executive club member, you'll get 1.25 BA miles (rather than 1 BA mile per actual mile flow for WT) and you get 150 tier points in WT+ as opposed to 120 in WT (for return trips).
I think the WT+ was a good (and fair) move on behalf of BA.

WTP is nice - if you're planning to pay full fare Y, then paying the difference to go WTP is worth it, but the difference from a cheapy Y ticket is not worth it. BA do have upgrade offers (maybe only in some markets though), so it can't hurt to find out. For a very long flight (10h +), it might also be worth it, but for a US East Coast trip, don't bother. I was in WTP for a LHR-HKG roundtrip, and it was nice on such a long haul.
WTP seats are bigger, with bigger pitch (38in), in a 2 x 4 x 2 layout. Ground handling and cabin service are identical the Y class, but you get a bigger hand-baggage allowance (2pcs). The seperate cabin is pleasant, especially if there's not many other pax in WTP, but is not as nice as VS Premium Economy upper deck (on 744's)

WTP does have the added bonus of being first in the upgrade line to Club World if the flight is oversold. Happened to me on both occasions I was booked into WTP. So haven't actually experienced WTP, although I'm not complaining
If you're lucky enough to get upgraded then the extra money becomes a bargain!

I was upgraded on a flight from YYZ to LHR couple of years ago, the cabin hadn't been around too long at the time.
If you're above 6 feet tall as I am, it's worth it for the space, as mentioned before.
Those extra 6 or so inches of legroom really make a difference, even with the people infront reclined all the way back.

Hi all,
Is BA WTP+ worth the money? YES. From the USA to European points, it is about $500 return more than the lowest sale fare in the winter, and about $750 or so higher in the summer. Also, in the winter, the fares are valid to points beyond London, so for my clients who are tall or who require added space, I try to put them on BA. Everyone who has flown the product has never gone back to flying Economy on BA.
The difference is the personal space. That is the value proposition. The amenities are no different than Economy. Frankly, because of the density of Club, those who do not require the bed product are very happy with WTP+. Also, the positioning of the cabin in the 747 provides for a small private environment with a max of 32-40 seats. Not a bad deal for the extra $500-$750 US return.
Cheers.

It is worth it. The width of the seat is great, and the extra 7" of legroom are great, too. Basically, you have plenty of room and it is a small cabin, usually without kids, so it is calm. The time flies by compared to Y. The food is the same, sure, but that does not concern me. You will arrive at your destination much more awake and alert than if you fly at the back of the plane!

World Traveller Plus is brilliant! Fly to Antigua in WTP. Well worth the extra...
Only thing I would like to mention to BA management: Please ensure you bring enough catering on your flights westwards and back. Hearing a lot of complaints on that.

I am one of those who tried WTP and hasn't gone any further back since! It is not too much more expensive if you book well in advance and you get tier points and cabin bonuses (plus the option to upgrade to Club for 0.5x miles)

I flew WT+ from EWR back to LHR last October, I thought it was a great product. Those above have mentioned most of the perks, but I would add that the seat has more recline, and there's laptop power at every seat which is great for watching a movie on the PC. Finally I'll add that the small amount of extra legroom and especially the small amount of extra seat width make a MASSIVE difference. I don't know if it's worth £400 if the money is coming out of your pocket but if someone else is paying / you want a shot at getting upgraded to J / you're over 6' / you need to be well rested on arrival and can't afford to shell out thousands for confirmed J / go for it. Hey, that's a LOT of good reasons. No wonder those above who've tried it haven't sat any close to the tail since. It's a good product.
Yes! Senator Obama. We are ready to believe again.

I flew WTP from BOS-LHR in march, and if I can help it, wont ever fly economy again! I am 6ft. 3in and boy does it make a difference. Here are just a few "upgrades" you get in WTP:
*A seat that is noticeably wider with the control's to put it in tons of different positions
*More leg room
*Power socket for your laptop
*Foot rests
Believe me, you CANT be uncomfortable!
I would absolutely recommend spending the extra money for it....and when you do, have a fantastic trip!

I flew AC business class for years YYZ-LHR. Switched to BA. I fly WTP all the time. If you can not get a sleeper seat-then you get all the space you need in WTP- You save a lot of money, on line check in, separate checki-n lines, get the space, power in your seat, and I have been upgraded several times to Club World, which I do not expect to and appreciate.
There may be better, but the bang for the buck, I have not looked back since switching.
there is economy class, business class, first class...then Concorde..pure class
