I'm at YVR now, waiting to board a plane for a flight to Ontario. For those of you that have used YVR as a departure / arrival (or work here), what do you think of the airport? What do you like? What do you hate? What do you want to see changed in the future. The Olympic games are near and YVR is going to recieve "the World" soon.
Here is what I think:
What I love:
Fairly good choice in airlines and destinations
Easy to access
Free wireless Internet
What I hate:
No good connection to the city (no freeway, etc), but that "may" change with the new LRT (light rail transit)
Few choices for shopping / bars / things to do in the domestic terminal. This is a DISGRACE. I was there on Friday night at 8:00pm and passed security I couldn't even buy a beer.
Crappy location in relation to the rest of the city (in terms of accessibility)
Well that's about it... I will leave it off to you...
Superior decisions reduce the need for superior skills.
Thats a Vancouver problem in general, not only a YVR problem. Quite amazing to think Granville is Highway 99 and turns into the I5. But access to 99 and 91 is pretty good, though it sucks to get to Highway 1. The new RAV line should be awesome for getting downtown.
Also a great airport for spotters with very lenient authorities - though that will change as the olympics approach. Saying that, a lot of the bizjet traffic will go to YXX and bizprops to YPK and shouldnt be too bad at either of those.
