I'll be flying VS200/VS201 SYD-LHR and back in two weeks time. I was wondering if there is any information about the safety rating of the airline? It's hard to find info because they are a relatively 'small' airline compared to the major players. I'm assuming they're just as safe as BA. Equipment will be a nice and newish A346 anyway...

Cheers for the input - I guess that was to be expected. I've always felt very safe onboard their A346's. I'm one of those people who is fascinated by planes and flying, but who also has a fear of it. That's a shame, really.

VS has had no fatalities or hull losses in over 25 years of operations. The most serious VS incident I can recall was the following emergency landing at LHR in 1997 when the left main gear on an A340-300 would not fully extend.

I see GA, but why PR? I'd say they have a pretty good record, and have never felt worried while flying them.

Amazing pictures - and if I recall correctly the VS crew did a fantastic job in handling the situation.

Enjoy your trip. VS offers great service, I fly them often on the BOS-LHR route. Great service in Y if you want a little extra room see if their are any prem economy upgrades available. Sometime when prem economy is really empty they offer upgrades for only $200 USD !!!
IFE is great and cabin crew is constantly in the aisle doing beverage services.

Cheers.
I'm booked in Premium Economy with my wife. Should make the whole trip a little more enjoyable!

Now parked in the desert I understand since 2007. Less than 15 years in service
Sounds like a short service period, indeed. I wonder if it had anything to do with the VS incident...
