Surely we are to see a Michael Jackson International Airport in the next year or so - a fitting tribute some mught say. But where?

Suggestions please!

Really? I don't think so. . . as great as a musician he was, there are just too many other factors to consider, so I highly doubt anyone would name a airport after Michael Jackson.

I'm sorry if my natural reaction to this thread was one of tastelessness, but I felt an urge to type anyway.

I don't think so. Too many skeletons in the closet. I'm sad that he died so young, but there's enough baggage attached to his life and career that naming an airport after him might guarantee a perpetual protest line from children's advocacy groups.

What about BAH? After all, didn't he live there?

Or perhaps DTW? Motown and all that.

This thread is tasteless, but hey, we can't all go on about how he sang the 'soundtrack to our lives'! (Mine is sung by Paul Potts)

Like others have said, I think with all of the baggage I don't think we'll see an airport named after Micheal Jackson.

I hope as hell not! Love his music but cannot stand the man with his freak circus sideshow and also in general....

I seriously doubt it. Usually takes years for an aiport to have its name changed (officially) iff its being changed for such reasons.

I don't see this happening. I am not speaking ill of the dead, he was a wonderful performer and musical artist, but I don't think any city would want people to come to their airport and remember all the "wacko jacko" things, it would be a PR nightmare IMHO.

If they were to name an airport though, I think it would probably be GYY since that is where he is from (IIRC).

Where's the passion gone out of the airline industry? The smell of jetfuel and the romance of taking a flight....

Why would a M. Jackson airport be more expected than a Chesley Sullenberger one?
