A now closed tread concluded that the IL-86 is no longer flying for Ural Airlines, but according to wideroe.no you can still fly it to Antalya, at least next week..

This pic gave me some hope. However after running Google Translate on the Aeroflot-Don website I figured out that these are charter only, although operating regularly between Antalya and Moscow throughout the summer.

If there is still a chance of booking a flight on one of these, I would give it a try. Btw, the Atlant-Soyuz ILWs also seem to operate on a regular basis although a retirement announcement was made a while back.

I hope you write a trip report  airplane   Big grin
Btw, both Yekatarainburg and Antalya are great cities, so be sure you explore them, rather then just fly Il-86!

well, it´s not for sure that I will take that route, been on the IL-86 3 times, just made the reservation to be sure that it´s possible..  Smile But I WILL go to Antalya on sunday, most likely on a direct, cheap charter flight from Oslo, will spend a week in the area and try to return via Moscow, SU has a really good connection on IL-96 this summer  Smile

You are right, even for late August it still shows the ILW flying to SVX.
Ok, might have to reconsider AYT in that case. Do you think this information is accurate and they actually operate the ILWs as scheduled? That would be great.

Cheers,
Loran

Hi Eirik,

May I ask you for a favour to enquire on spot if there is a way to buy a ticket AYT-DME? The flights show up on their website, but not bookable (28.08.09). Not sure if I have enough time to transit through SVX.

Also, if you see the Aeroflot-Don counter, could you check if there is some option of buying a ticket on their service to Moscow?

Thanks in advance.
Loran

These appear to be the last scheduled IL-86 flights - 30th August. A321 operating on same day, different flight.

Until this date, the IL-86s are still operating some of the SVX-DME flights.

Thanks for the info, I should really try to get on one of these flights. I was hoping to get on the particular AYT-DME service because I will be transiting through SVO on the 29.08.... Their website just doesn't allow to select the flight although it is correctly displayed in the schedule.

Supposedly one of the Friday-flights is operated with the IL-86, but i would not rely on this to catch the IL-86. They are often replaced with Airbus' or TU5. I have tried this one several times, but have been disappointed every time  Sad I think the flight to AYT is a safer bet

Will do if at AYT, right now it looks like I will travel through Dalaman instead, and the most interesting flight on my trip will be TK/ Jet Airways 77W IST-LHR ..

I actually meant to say SVX-AYT (scheduled) & DME-AYT (charter I think, as you can not book them).

I can not see them on any domestic SVX-DME runs any more.

Correct, that matches what I found on their website. Fares are around EUR 450 for AYT-SVX-SVO. I wish there was a possibility to skip the SVX transit and head straight to DME...

Eirik, if you get a chance, would you be able to enquire at their counter in AYT if there is some way of purchasing a ticket on their AYT-DME run? Thanks.

Cheers,
Loran

Yeah that is what I thought would be best. Fares are not really cheap and I am just a little worried about equipment change, but it is the last chance I guess.

If the ticket is refundable you could always have a backup plan if the -86´s not showing up on the day of your departure from AYT; SU IL-96 directly to SVO later in the afternoon could be one..

Sounds like a good idea, but their terms & conditions seem to be a google translate product and are hard to understand.

The Il-96 should be covered by then  Smile I bought an SU ticket routing BKK-SVO-FRA return. Hopefully the ILW will be part of this trip. It also depends if I can arrange a transit visa quickly enough. Does anyone of you have experience how to arrange this type of visa and how long the process takes?

Thanks again for the help.

contact www.wideroe.no , you can book the ticket there and also ask them about rules / refunds, it´s a very good and communicative site.

Thanks Eirik. I will contact them and find out.

One more question to Ian, IIRC you were flying FRA-SVX on LH, may I ask if non-rev? Fares are pretty high, EUR450+ o/w  faint . Is there any cheaper way of getting into SVX? AYT-FRA is cheaper at least, approx. EUR 200.

Also, is anyone experienced in terms of transit visas?

When I searched, it was about £280! Extremely expensive!

I was randomly searching AYT-MOW and saw that the IL9 is scheduled to operate certain flights. But, again, extremely expensive. I have flown the IL9 before on SVO-DEL.

Good news! It IS still possible to fly the IL-86 on domestic flights!

I am travelling to Russia for a week 16-23 August on an organised tour but was thinking of breaking away from the tour for a day and was looking at what I could fly on certain routes. I found this:

1.345.7 1600VKO 1820AER 7B 201 ILW CDZSL 0
1.345.7 2020AER 2240VKO 7B 202 ILW CDZSL 0

Atlant Soyuz are using them on some shceduled flights from Moscow Vnukovo to Sochi. I am thinking of flying MOW-AER on the morning and taking the IL-86 back to VKO on the evening. AER-VKO on 13AUG works out at GBP107 one way.
