My wife and I accumulated enough points to fly first class on the return flight (CO19) from London Heathrow to EWR. My question is, because the 757 is an older plane, how much of a first class " down grade" is this from flying a newer Continental plane, like a 777?
While we appreciative to have the upgrade I guess my question focuses on what to expect in the 757 first class experience on Continental?

The 772s have lie-flat, the 752s have recliners. However the lie-flats are being installed on the 757s, but I do not think installation has started yet. It's a pretty significant downgrade if you are one a 757 with the current BizElite product.

I think you should go with the 772, the 757 has the old/recliner seats while the 777 has the "almost-lie flat" seats. If you fly the 757 on trans-atlantic it would be a complete downgarde compared to the 777.
