Has an aircraft ever crashed on an airline's inaugural flight?

Not sure whether you meant inaugural for the aircraft or inaugural for a route ?

Canadian Pacific lost a DH Comet ( with the unfortunate registration CF-CUN ! - they really were innocent back in those days ) in Karachi while on a delivery flight .

Although it was a delivery flight it was apparently carrying pax

Meant inaugural flight for the airline. Imagine: endless hours work, all the hype, first flight by "Safe Air" (haha) and it ends in tragedy. Has this happened?

James:
PIA flight 705, operating its inaugural service from Karachi to both Cairo and London, crashed on landing in Cairo on May 20, 1965, killing all but 6 persons on board the newly-delivered Boeing 720B. Many prominent government, business and journalists from Pakistan were on board, along with several PIA employees traveling on company business related to the inaugural. The crew included famed PIA Flight Attendant or "Hostess" Momi Gul Durrani who was hugely popular in Pakistan as the "model" for the airline. She was a very attractive young woman who became famous in the 50's and early 60's modeling PIA uniforms and representing the airline and country in publications. Regrettably, the crew did not survive; however, two PIA employees - a Press Officer and Station Manager did.
A dramatic accident for any airline or company to experience on such an important event.
Service on the route did commence as additional B720B's were delivered.
I hope this information is helpful,
Thomas

No idea about crashes on inaugural flights,

but the AF A320 giving an airshow and flying in the trees is a nice example of a promo situation turning into a disaster...

What about A330 testing flight when 7 people died. It was not the very first flight, but one of the first A330 flights.

Only the crew and other employees involved with the delivery.
