Hey!
Thinking about going with my gf to Bremen, Germany to see the family for xmas. Would like to stay about 2-3 weeks and would be staying over New Years. Any suggestions on who to fly with? I'd like, if possible to fly with an airline that has a PTV and this will be my gf's first time on an airliner (going up in Cessna 172 next week) so I'd like a carrier that is pretty cool (friendly, good food etc) to give her a good impression. We can fly out of YUL or BTV.
Thanks!

Flying into BRE your options are fairly limited (unless you want to change between LHR and STN and continue on FR to BRE - not recommended):
- KL via AMS
- AF via CDG
- *A (LH, AC) via FRA or MUC
( SQ from JFK to FRA )

In case you are considering alternative airports to fly to, keep in mind that motorway A1 between Bremen and Hamburg (HAM) is under major re-construction, with motorists being advised to use detour via A7 and A27 instead.
However, if you intend to use the train between Hamburg and Bremen, you might take advantage of HAM's often lower fares.

HAJ might be an alternative getting you fairly close to Bremen with car and train the options to go to Bremen.

Quite some distance from BRE, but you could consider to fly into DUS and use the train to Bremen (same is true for FRA, but check train times carefully).

With HAM, DUS and FRA you get the additional option of BA via LHR, while LX (via ZRH) not only serves all these three but also HAJ.

If you really want to impress her, take a look at SQ's service out of JFK to FRA.
While this would require extra effort on both ends to get to / from SQ's airports, it undoubtedly should be the best Y-service on offer on this route.
Check, if SQ's fare includes a rail ticket in Germany to any destination. If not compare fares on trains (www.bahn.de) and for flights between FRA and BRE (LH only). When flying on a seperate ticket between FRA and BRE; you should be able to check your luggage through spanning both tickets (SQ and LH).

With the other options to BRE (AF, KL, LH, AC) each has its advantages and disadvantages.
AF could be the choice if one of you is francophil, however you get the negative aspect of transferring at CDG to remote Terminal 2G.

Connecting at AMS is convenient, but do not allow less than 90 minutes to make the connection to make the connection a leisurely one.

Connecting at MUC T2 (*A) is most easy. Very logical layout.

Connecting at FRA T1 (*A) is okay, but it can be a maze (especially during times of reconstruction, which basically is "always").

Also take a look at LX via ZRH to either HAJ or HAM. Good carrier with a good hub.

Others surely will recommend BA (to HAM), but I have no recent experience as they withdrew service to LON from HAJ.

Hello.
Thanks for your lengthy and well thought out response. I've checked and I noticed that AF uses the A380 on its JFK route and am thinking about going BTV or YUL to JFK and then hooking up with AF to CDG (even though I heard it was a messy airport) then onto BRE.

Allow not less than 90 minutes to make connection in CDG, as your Regional flights to/from BRE will use fairly remote (and new) Terminal 2G requiring a bus transfer (AFAIK only available on non-sterile side).
