Ohaiou!
So, never before have I had the chance to non-rev to NRT and spend some time in Tokyo. I finally have the chance to do it this weekend. The flight I've listed on to NRT is wide open. So, looks like a no-brainer barring some sort of horrific storm or MX issue. You get the idea. There's like 70-odd open seats.
Coming home from NRT utilmately to SFO, the airline I work for is quite a bit oversold. So, I decided to get some backups.
My backups are:
UA838 NRT-SFO 1605 Dep. 07SEP
NH008 NRT-SFO 1710 Dep. 07SEP
AC004 NRT-YVR 1900 Dep. 07SEP
So obviously, these flights all leave within a few hours of each other in the afternoon/evening. Are they all located near each other in the same gate area?
No show factor?
Load Information?
Could I check in to the UA flight, Check in to the NH flight AND Check in to the AC flight, make it through security/customs/immigration and try for these 3 flights?
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Congrats!!! As per my TR's on the flights, NRT is my favorite place to nonrev to overseas, by a long shot!!
First off, arrival in NRT is as tame and easy as it gets, in regard to navigating around the airport and such. Though, it would greatly help if you could tell me who you work for (PM me) as there are two separate terminals in NRT. For the most part, SkyTeam and StarAlliance park on Terminal 1, while Oneworld parks on Terminal 2. Again, that's not 100% correct, but is for the most part.
There should also be UA852 to SFO, as it's currently run double-daily. Of course, myself being a disciple to the 747-400, I suggest you take UA838
That having been said, UA852, the later 777 that departs somewhere around 1800 local time, tends to have much more favorable loads for nonrevs, both in terms of actual bookings and in terms of fewer nonrevs listed.

While all the gates in NRT are common-use, NH, UA, and NW/DL all have the same gate areas they tend to use. All are within easy walking distance of eachother, especially NW/DL and UA - having done the walk many times myself. I've never actually walked over to the NH gates, but they are indeed very close as well.

Possible - yes
Slightly unethical - also yes
To answer your question, it is indeed possible. All you would do is just go to all the check-in counters and check-in as normal. I'd suggest you don't inform them you've checked in for lots of other flights as well. When you go through passport control, only hand them one of your standby cards, not all of them. Once you're beyond passport control into the terminal, you're free to go to whichever gates you want.
NW/DL, UA, NH, and AC all park on terminal 1. The only US legacy that parks on terminal 2 is AA, with their Oneworld partner JAL.
Any other questions feel free to reply here or send a PM.

Thanks so much for all the great info. It's totally helpful.
It looks like I'll be arriving in Terminal 1 with the rest of the Star Alliance carriers.
BTW, anyone know the best way to get to Shinjuku station from Narita?
It seems, with minimal research, that the Narita Express is the best way.

Exactly 1 year ago I flew out from NRT with JL. They did not check me in before they were able to give me a seat... I had to wait at the check in counter before a seat was available for me and was not able to go through security.
Not sure if this is the same case in Terminal 1 with mentioned airlines!?

Hmm, interesting.
I've flown NW, AA, UA, and DL all out of NRT, and none of them have ever stopped me like that before. I tend to just do self check-in and go straight through with no problem.

I've sure if you ran a google you've seen this: http://www.japan-guide.com/e/e2027.html
I've done both the limousine bus and the NEX...both easy as pie, haven't done the cheapest option, Keisei. Maybe it would make for an interesting trip.
Don't worry about the Tokyo railways/subway, they might seem confusing at first, but once you get the hang of it...so easy and convenient!
Also, although a lot of Japanese don't like to admit they speak some English, many of them really do lol.
Tokyo is my favourite metropolis in the world!
