Compulsive Lists: Have You Landed At The Alphabet?
User currently offlineAirstud From United States of America, joined Nov 2000, 2550 posts, RR: 1
Posted (4 years 6 months 3 weeks 6 days 1 hour ago) and read 6190 times:

The big excitement, as the world media is reporting, is that I landed at FLL on Saturday and got to add it to my "Landed There" list. I have noticed while putzing with my Calc spreadsheet that it is the only "F" IATA code on the list; and that there are also gaps at H, K, N, Q, U, V, W, and X.

The other letters are all represented at least once, as you can see (this list serves only to iterate through the alphabet once per letter and is not my complete Landed There list)

A = ABQ
B = BOS
C = CLT
D = DEN (Stapleton)
E = EWR
F = FLL
G = GDL
H =
I = IAD
J = JFK
K =
L = LAS
M = MKE
N =
O = ORD
P = PHL
Q =
R = RDU
S = SNA
T = TPA
U =
V =
W =
X =
Y = YEG
Z = ZIH

Hopefully the gaps will be filled soon enough, with, say, trips to HNL or HEL, KEF, QRO (really, what other airports' designators start with "Q?").

I actually can't think of any that start with U, V, W, or X.

How complete is your Landed-There alphabet?

I am disappointed, I simply must travel more. If I tell my parents I need to fill an alphabet of airports, I am sure they will take me more places................

I guess 15 isn't to bad for 17 years, and I will be heading to LHR next, which doesn't help me at all.

Q - used almost exclusively for railway stations, bus stations etc. which have been assigned IATA codes for joint ticketing/reservations purposes. Very few airports have Q codes. One is Queretaro, Mexico (QRO).
R - RHI (Rhinelander, Wisconsin)
S - SYD
T - TLV
U -
V - VIE
W - WLG
X - like Q, mostly assigned to rail/bus stations, although there are some airports with X codes including several in China. One I've been to but haven't landed at (no scheduled flights!) is XFW, Finkenwerder, the Airbus factory in Hamburg.
Y - YVR (and about 40 other airports in Canada!)
Z - ZRH

The RAAF bases have ICAO codes (YPEA for Pearce; YGIG for Gingin). Air force bases won't have an IATA code if they don't also accommodate commercial flights.

Did you land there in RAAF (or other milimatary) equipment?
