Hi All,
I will be landing on VS 20 from SFO into LHR at 11am , and would ideally like to depart on EK 002 at 1345pm,
My question is,
Is a 2hrs 45 min connection enough to check out with bags and again check in on the EK flight or am i pushing my luck incase my flight from SFO is delayed
Or should i go with 9W which departs almost 9 hrs after arrival, making LHR T3 a very boring place to hang out ,
Also VS has said that they will not check my baggage all the way through as i have booked their ticket using miles and my EK or 9W ticket will be on a separate itinerary/PNR

I think that you should be fine. Today for instance the flight is around 10 minutes late and this wouldn't be any problem.
You don't have to change terminal and the flight connections centre is fairly quick at T3, IIRC.
I know a big thing is made of changing at LHR but I used to do it from T1 - T4 in 1 hour, yes it would be a rush when flights delayed etc, but manageable all the same.
Also, there is an EK flight at 1635 - would this not be an option too?

Karanji,
that time should be enough for you to connect within T3. Doesn't VS have interline agreements with EK?
Thanks

9W has moved to T4 since Oct 14. I traveled via LHR on Oct 15 arriving in T3 by AC and departing T4 by 9W. I actually timed my connection as on my return trip my connection between 9W and AC was only 90 minutes. It took me 40 minutes to transfer from T3 to T4 including the security check at T4.
