I think that the service on both airlines are good, However I would choose to fly on the 777 aircraft!

Continental.
In reference to the "modern" issue, let me point at that Continentals 767-200s are factory fresh, and very modern. You cant tell the difference between them and a 777 on the inside, complete with adjustable/winged headrests, state of the art seats and personal televisions.

I would say to go for AZ. CO has good service, but AZ is pretty nice and I love those 777s.

It's time to boycott Alitalia until the Italian government stops the anti-consumer effort to require other airlines to raise their fares because inefficient, bloated Alitalia cannot compete.
So, I'd say fly Continental, British, Lufthansa, etc....any airline but Alitalia.

First off, CO's 762s are some of the newest aircraft in the CO fleet. As JBLUA320 said, they have the 777-style interiors, PTV's, and are extremely pax-pleasing. In addition, how can you beat the convenience of a non-stop? The only thing would be the price difference and how much your time is worth to you. How much is the difference between the two airlines?

Thanks for your replies! I just booked the trip. I will be flying Continental and Swiss.
CO79 ZRH-EWR
CO60 EWR-BRU
LX787 BRU-ZRH
In the end Continental's departure and arrival times were more convenient than AZ's. The BRU stop over is only 1.30 mintues long compared to a 5 hour wait in Milan.

I have flown Continental before and have always had a good experience. And like JBLUA320 and Cory6188 said, their 767s are still very young with 777-style interiors.

Bicoastal, I respect your opinion but I don't think you should incite someone to boycott an airline. In respect for all the people who flies everyday with our flag carrier and for the thousands of people who works -like myself- for AZ, let me tell you that this is not a good thing
I don't understand the reason why you have to attack AZ for a reason different from the one being discussed. This is really unfair, truly I can't believe that someone in this forum could ever say : don't fly this or that, very sad
Ok Aviation Master, have a nice travel, I respect your choice even if you'll probably miss AZ excellent service and the mighty triple-seven!!

Continental. The way AZ run their airline, you'll be lucky if your AZ flight leaves at all. Plus MXP as a connecting airport is a DISASTER ! Best avoided.

Thanks IDISA! I would've loved to fly AZ and on the B777, but in the end my parents weren't to keen on the 5 hour wait (although I wouldn't have minded ). Maybe next time

AviationMaster,
Not that you could have gone wrong on either airline, but I think you've made the right choice!

I'm agreeing with who ever said connecting in Milan is a disaster. I did it 2 days ago. Horrible but bearable, especially since I was arriving from pre-historic SVO. Anyway I flew Alitalia and heard many, many great things about their 777s. I even understood that the aircraft was the pride of their fleet. Don't quote me on that though. But on the other hand a couple of people on here said that COs 767 are good too, so its your choice.
I would choose Alitalia because of the 777 and the price. Remember Milan is bad but you can live through it.

Ba299,
On Thursday in Milan gates A/B50 to A/B57 all had delayed flights. Including my flight which left Milan 2.5 hours late. And guess what the reason was, we were waiting for 3 passengers from London who's flight got delayed. What about the rest of the 160 passengers that have to suffer because of them. It was quite unprofessional from Alitalias side. I believe that Alitalia might delay flights regularly.

Ba299....even if it's AZ and not the government demanding that its competitors raise their fares, the reason to boycott AZ remains. If they can't compete, then it's time to close up shop.
