Choosing Between 2 Itineraries On EK

Hi Guys,

Among the airlines that I'm considering for my winter trip, I'm thinking of flying on EK, because on the way to Jeddah, I could stop in Dubai for a few days which sounds like a fun idea to me.

Here are the two itineraries that I'm considering:

1-
UA: SAN-SFO
EK: SFO-DXB-JED-DXB-SFO
UA: SFO-SAN

2-
CO: SAN-IAH
EK: IAH-DXB-JED-DXB-IAH
CO: IAH-SAN

I'd like to know which airport is better in terms of convenience and efficiency when comparing SFO and IAH.

Also, I've flown in UA's Y+ class, which offered a good amount of legroom. On the other hand, I haven't flown on CO. If I go on this trip, all of my flights would be in Y class.

I would appreciate your opinions in terms of choosing between these two itineraries.

What are the timings involved ?
Do the transfers allow for sufficient time to make the various connections including some extra time to cater for potential delays ?
I only have used IAH fairly recently international and there was nothing to complain about, neither arriving in the U.S. nor departing.
The queue at immigration for non-US citizens was okay (but still 15-20 or so minutes, IIRC) , having landed behind a EK-bird.

SAN-IAH is the longer sector, so if you are vary about CO's product, which I found to be okay in Y, UA in Y+ to SFO indeed could be the better option.

OTOH, IAH appears to be slightly less prone to severe delays due to wx seeing that you intend to fly out in winter.

Okay, these timings DO have enough extra time for some delays.
Actually, the flights via IAH have fairly long layovers at IAH ...
Might be better to fly via SFO as you will be able to leave home later and return earlier.

You're right. Plus, I like to fly on UA's Y+. I'll try to fly via SFOSmile
