NZ is offering a "New Year's" sale to NZ and AUS. VA has matched the sale fares for Premium Economy. Business class not on sale - can't afford.
NZ's fare includes a LAX-AKL-SYD-AKL-LAX routing with a free stopover in AKL on the return date. VA is of course RT LAX-SYD only. QF has not matched the sale as yet....their LAX-SYD is DOUBLE the fare of NZ and VA.
Obviously my clients are considering the NZ flights. I would appreciate your comments concerning -
1. Seat comfort,
4. Overall service delivery,
5. Any lounge access available at this fare category from either airline?
Thanks. I'll look forward to your views - they are valued and appreciated!

The fare has now been matched by QF and would include the choice of A380 service LAX-SYD. So now we have the 3 to choose from.
We'll not consider a Y product on DL or UA and Business is too expensive for 2 so the benefit of Premium Economy is a good buy for the trip.....now who would you rate the best?

I haven't flown on QF or VA. However,I have flown on NZ a few times because they offer such a high quality product IMO for a normally low price. However, Skytrax rates QF 3rd best airline in the world and NZ 8th. NZ is my favorite airline so, of course, I would suggest it. Also, because NZ include a stop-over in AKL, I would suggest it. NZ is an awesome country.

Thank You to everyone who responded to my request for good information. In particular the trip report by Gabrielchew was very helpful - I actually showed it to my clients who found the pictures and service observations very helpful and informative.
So. We booked the NZ fare for their travel dates in May, and with the assistance of a great NZ agent named Andrew in AKL, secured row 22 and 23 in the upper deck to/from LAX and AKL, and good Space Plus seats to/from SYD.
A great fare better than UA Y+ with the purchase of a RT ticket SYD-AKL and a bit cheaper than QF's service. The QF A380 flights subsequently sold out/not available for the sale fare. Overall, very pleased with the booking and looking forward to their NZ trip.
Just an observation because they could not afford Business Class anyway. DL. Step up and match your competitors at least from LAX. BE fares are significatly higher than QF, VA and UA and way overpriced to originate from my clients origin point MCO. We're talking several thousand dollars difference, so in view of continuing drops in international traffic (12% in November and December 2009) I would hope DL would at least price themselves a bit more competitively. UA offers a consistent business fare that is always lower than QF, NZ or VA via SFO and LAX, so DL should also step up to be a more competitive price leader in the SYD market. At least match your code-share partner VA from LAX.
A DL agent commented me to she doubted they would match any of the lower Business class fares and tongue-in-cheek remarked "If it fills up, we non-revs would have to ride in the back."
My point is this. My clients almost sprang for business at about $10,600.00 for 2 tickets. They would have flown on UA or QF. DL would have lost over TEN THOUSAND DOLLARS in revenue they don't have right now.....4 months in advance of travel date.....and are priced thousands more with no fare sale match process. Come on ATL. Cash flow?
Enough about DL. Thanks again everyone for your feedback, and NZ for handling my phone call with a genuine desire to be helpful to my clients. A class outfit.
