For spotting wide bodies from around the world, which is the better airport and where at each are the best places to go spotting?

True, but DFW gets the SilverBird 777s!
And great spotting terrace!

I love a good Houston v. Dallas thread, but this is one that Houston wins quite easily I'm afraid  cry

Yep, go to Houston. More variety from international carriers.

See, DFW fans are the ones that can admit things like this without getting all up in arms and starting a stupid war.

Do you mean Founders Plaza? I think that's what it's called?

IAH, especially spotting in the afternoon when the heavies come rolling in such as EK, SQ, QR, KL, BA, AF, LH, Privatair, AM, and TA as well as CO heavies heading to Europe.

Houston wins on variety of colour no doubt though I think DFW has a nicer watch area.
Although IAH also has a viewing area on the southeast side of the airport IIRC

If you have an MD-80 fetish go to DFW.

Otherwise go to IAH and enjoy a day at the Lee Rd. location.

As a side note, both airports also have various cargo colour as well. IAH gets Saudi Cargo for example, and Volga-Dnepr has one of its main US offices in Houston so the An-124 is a frequent visitor.

Great thread, i'm actually in the process of moving from Houston up to DFW (better job offer) and i'm curious to hear about some spotting options at DFW. Also, is there a spotter community up in DFW? I'm looking for friends as well, so if any fellow a.netters in the DFW area want to PM me to meet up and talk about planes let me know!  Smile
