Delta 193 Atlanta (ATL) 5:25pm Caracas (CCS) 10:11pm Boeing 767-400
Last time I flew with them, it was prefectly fine, but the layover was of almost 3 hours. I had to change one terminal and it wasn't a problem for me. However, knowing ATL worries me a bit, since we may be stranded in a taxiway for hours, or even perhaps held in a holding pattern for 45 minutes, like it happened to me once in the past...
What do you think? Should I take this flight coming out of DAB or take an earlier one (putting me in a 3hr layover?)
Thanks in advance!

I'd take the earlier flight. Flights out of DAB are notorious for being delayed, and that would likely put a damper on your day. I've done 45 minute connections in Atlanta, but its tough if you have to transfer from one end of a concourse to the other end of another.

I also would go for the earlier flight. I once had a tight connection at ATL (30-45 minutes if memory serves me right), and I didn't make it. Everything was on time until we had to wait a while on the ground after landing, and by the time I moved over a concourse or two it was too late. I had to watch my plane back away from the gate. But in that case FL had another flight to FLL in about an hour. You won't have that second option. It doesn't take much at ATL to eat up time.
